COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an aggressive beer. You probably wonít like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Poured into tulip, a hazy brown with small white head that resided quickly. Aroma was citrus hops and caramel and toffee of the malts. Taste was same but with an alcohol note. Finish was a mix of the malts and citrus with the warming of the alcohol. Nicely done.

A deep golden hue, big expressive hops that define this style of beer. That malt and hops are big and expressive, fantastic.

Birthday present from s_hartshorne. Bottle. Burgundy beer with medium frothy head. Aroma of malts and fruit. Taste is dry fruits, caramel, autumn leaf and malts. There is an astringency in the finish. Good stuff.

Keg at Stone @ San Diego Airport, 22/04/14. 12th most rated beer on RB and one Iíve had a few times over the years but with an hour or so to kill before my flight to Maui (via SFO) on a day of limited ticks -there was only one outcome!!! Rich amber with a good sized beige head that retains well. Nose is caramel, light spice, candied fruit peel, dark fruits, toffee. Taste comprises caramel, fruit loaf, dark fruit rind, spice, light booze but very well in check. Medium bodied, smooth on the palate, very light alcohol and hoppy tinges in the close. Decent strong.

Bottle, 650ml. Pours a clear, deep ruby/copper head with a rich, creamy head with beautiful lacing. Sweet nose with some great hoppiness. Very smooth and very heavy. Robust body with a fiery roasted malt character and a packing finish. You probably wonít like it.

For me, this comes far too close to an IPA. Has a pretty hoppy taste, can really taste the alcohol in my opinion and it is a bit heavy in consistency. Has a great hoppy, floral aroma.

No lack of character but a little over done. Thatís the idea I guess. Unsubtle alcohol, resin levels of hops, roasty, and some yeast in its long lingering finish. Fun to wrestle with and good with flavorful food.

Pours a dark, mahogany type amber showing carbonation and has a white bubbly head thatís almost non existent. Smells of sweet hops, lightly roasted malt, kind of a metal drum smell like a red ale but smells like a beer Iíd drink. Enjoy by 5/24/14 drank on 4/23. Packs a hop punch but not a huge one. Has a slightly heavy mouth-feel and just about a perfect light carbonation. You kind of get a mix of alcohol and hoppy taste but not overpowering at all, then it quickly subsides with a dry finish. A Classic

This has become a Classic and good go-to beer, just not sessionable. It does tiptoe very close to the IPA line. Nice blend of hops and caramel malt aromas. Amber color that looks almost like some Belgian strong ales. Palate is full and somewhat weighty with high carbonation. Hops are up front but immediately followed but a caramel malt sweetness . Grainy flavors with bread and a dry finish round it out. A must try.
