3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour tan khaki head ... aroma of roasted malts, smoke, some chocolate and anise with some light spicy rye .... taste is roasted and lightly smoked, with anise, light spicy rye, light chocolate and a bitter hoppy bite ... abv comes out on the back end and into the finish .... dry and lingering smoke and roasted malts are in the finish with a lingering hop bite ... a little too much confusion and complexity in this one for me

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with little retention recedes leaving spider lacing to mottle surface. Dark caramel, soy and toffee aromas. Thick with dark molasses and caramel upfront turning to roasted dark chocolate in the lasting finish.

So I brought a bottle of this beer back from Bottleworks on a recent Seattle trip, only to find it on shelves in Ohio a week or so later. The beer pours black with a medium thick tan head that diminishes slowly. Large sticky patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark malt, hops and brown sugar. Medium to full body with flavors of burnt malt, black licorice, resiny hops and a bit of fruit. The finish is roasty with a lingering malt and anise aftertaste. Good beer all around.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Thanks e for sharing. Deep dark town with small mocha tan head. Nose aint bad, some roasted malts, dark fruits, coffee, light honey or maple syrup. Flavor is a little more messy; sharp bitterness is interspersed with sweeter molasses, mocha, and a sweet non descript boozy character. Maybe one malt and two hops from perfection.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle @ 18th RG. Pretty dark with thin tan head. Smells lightly roasty and grainy. Tastes sweet sour and bitter all at once. Syrupy sweetness hangs on.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled at the at 18th Richmond gathering. Sweet, but surprisingly balanced with lots of malty complexity. Huge caramel and molasses and light chocolate, and honey. Bitterness on the finish for balance. Really not what i was in the mood for i guess, but it does hide the abv really well.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep garnet brown pour with ruby highlights and one finger of tan head. Nose shows some acidic dark grain and chocolate notes, burnt caramel, anise, and booooozzzeeee. Why would thirteen different types of anything in anything be good? Why? (Someone responds with Chateauneuf du Pape). Flavor is a muddled mess, burnt sugar and hot alcohol. Its like molasses mixed with vodka....bitter chocolate and just harsh and unpleasant. Iíll never get that $9 back...

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle, from Triangle Wine. Ok/Good aroma, sweet. caramel, chocoalte, little wet cardboard. dark orangy brown color. Ok head, minor lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Medium body, creamy oily mouthfeel, bittersweet finish. Ok aroma, but bit of a stale smoke sent, Flavor better, but could be the ABV. Itís fine, nothing wow.....

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to oversized snifter. Looks good; dark with low carbonation and thin, sticky lacing. Smells solid; sweet and malty. Tastes Pretty good too; up front hops and malt with a boozy finish (which will probably improve with some aging). Pretty good!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt, resin hop and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy balanced flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid complex beer.
