3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Everything in the kettle! Big bold brew with a lot of flavors. It has a lot of caramel, roasty, nutt flavors and a lot of hops hidden in that big palate. It’s aged about 9 months so it’s pretty smooth. Finish is dry. Alcohol well hidden.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 23, 2012
Location: Bottle shared w/ jcos, and dbarnold, 10/21/12
Aroma: There’s a lot going on in this nose of this one, including chocolate, sweet malts, some fruit, spice, a bunch of different hops, etc, etc, etc
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown color with a beige head
Flavor: The taste is also rather rich with lots of malt and hop flavors, balanced between sweet and bitter
Palate: This beer has a medium-plus body and a pretty solid mouthfeel
I was torn on this one. It is interesting and complex, and it works pretty well, but there may be a little too much going on, which left it feeling a touch muddled.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a deep dark black. 1 finger head. Fades to a light level of bubbles. Very weak nose. Mild bitterness and licorice. Taste is well...harsh. Loyd of smoke and oak. Honey and brown sugar. Hops and peppers. Meh.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big black pour with a thick, lasting tan head.
Roast malt, cocoa, coffee, complex yet subtle aroma.
Interesting flavor here. No roast malt bitterness, some chocolate, a little coffee, sweet but not overly so. Different than a stout, not a barley wine.
I think they stumbled onto a good one.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Stone total tap takeover at Parkway Tavern. The nose is pretty intense. Stewed fruit and some light barrel character. A little bit of soft vineous woodiness. A bit of soft peppery/vanilla flavour and some moderate cocoa. Assertive woody bitterness but has a nice light chewiness. Pretty nice.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottleworks is something new for me - what is the connection with Stone? This is a big brew with 13 hops and 13 grains. Midnight colored pour and a persistent head. The aroma is mostly toasted grain with some malty sweetness and floral hops. The flavor is surprisingly cohesive and balanced for a leviathan like this - coffee, prunes, brown bread, and brown sugar. There is a silky sweetness and a light, tingly finish on the palate. Very good indeed.
