Man, where to start with this brew..... Pours a fairly viscous deep brown, almost black with a small tan ring. Low carbonation was perfect for this beer. Great nose of vanilla, oats, coffee beans and some cocoa dust. Very smooth on the palate, would love to get this again!

Pint on tap at the Most Arrogant Bar Bash at Barleys in Greenville SC. (2013 - from notes). Opaque black with a modest sized but durable mocha brown head. The aroma is sweet, with an obvious bourbon barrel component. The bourbon barrel is even more obvious in tasting, and lends a nice, albeit high ABV quality, to the flavor. Still, the high ABV is partly hidden. Lightly sweet and highly flavorful. Very good complexity and balance. Long lasting aftertaste.

Grabbed a bottle of this when it was released and hid it the back of my beer cellar. Opened it up in October 2012 and really enjoyed it. The chocolate, bourgon, malt, and sweetness were well infused. The hops almost completely disappeared. Very smooth, lightly carbonated, low head. Another amazing creating from the good folks at Stone!

Bottle, aged well, pours dark as sin, nice thin thick tan head. Great nose. Rich thick mouth feel. Great flavour. Great finish. Yumm!

Appearance: Pours a seemingly thick dark brown with nary a head. Aroma: Chocolate, soy sauce, vanilla, dark fruit.

Taste: Chocolate, vanilla, wood, bourbon, char.

Mouthfeel: Thinned out with very low carbonation.

Overall: I loved this beer fresh, I love it with 3-4 years on it, but I didn’t love this. My palate perceived this beer to be with less body than in it’s original form. It did get nice and woody, that part was enjoyable.

Pitch black pour. Milk chocolate, sweet vanilla, oatmeal, dark cocoa, notes of dark fruit, oak, and warming bourbon. Smooth oatmeal stout mouthfeel. Very nice desert beer, I think I liked it better then the Bourbon BA IRS. This had more vanilla silkiness, while the IRS had more dark fruit and abv heat.

Dark black with no head. Bourbon and vanilla aroma. Taste is also very similar. Great stuff.

Pour it Black! Black with no head. Bourbon chocolate vanilla and oak aroma and taste with light citrus fruit on the back end and a hint of sour mash tastes.

On tap at Small bar into a tasting glass for the Stone 40 tap takeover...Black pour with a thin light tan head...The aroma is the star of this beer, very strong with tons of bourbon showing throughout. Light oak, alcohol and bourbon are showed off. The beer malt character shows off with lots of chocolate...The taste is not dominated by the bourbon sadly as even though it was strong I was excited. The malts show through here in a creamy fashion, cream, vanilla and some chocolate...The beer is to light on the palate but pretty easy to drink. One of the better beers of the night.
