First time I have had one of these and I must say itís my favorite of the bastard series Iíve had. The bourbon is light but it helps smooth out the smell and taste of the regular bastard. Plus we get slightly higher abv. I will definitely pick up another bomber of this in the future.

Poured ruby red-brown with off white head. Piney, resinous, and woody aroma. The bourbon came through a little in the taste, but still pretty close to the regular AB. Slightly creamier I think. Good enough, but hoping for more from the treatment.

22 oz bomber. Tasted on 11/21/14. Beer from Total Wine Lewisville, TX. The aroma comes with the bourbon notes first followed by the great arrogant aroma. Flavor was well balanced & wasn't overpowered by the bourbon. As it warmed you did get more bourbon on the nose & taste. Overall a great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This red brown beer has a vanilla aroma. It has a brown sugar flavor with some vanilla notes. The aging of the beer in bourbon barrels mellows out the bite it normally has. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reddish brown with a pale head. Aroma is passionfruit, caramel, hint of oak, touch of bourbon. Medium bodied, bitter on the palate with a hint of booze on the finish. Taste is caramel, bitter citrus peel, hint of pine

22 ounce bottle, printing is a bit smudged but it looks like it says it was bottled on 09/24/14. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a mostly clear ruby red/chestnut brown color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention is OK, and thereís a lot of lacing. I like the aroma, it smells like piney hops, dark fruit, caramel, oak, and a bit of vanilla and bourbon. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but thereís also some bready malt and citrus peel noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís coating and has a decent amount of carbonation. Iím not sure how long this was aged in bourbon barrels, but Iíd guess it wasnít for a very long time. Not that Iím complaining, but this was hoppier and less bourbony than I expected it to be. With that being said, I liked it. Part of the Bastard Box, $20 for bombers of regular, bourbon barrel, Lukcy Basartd and Double Bastard isnít a bad deal at all!

bottle Pours amber hue with a small off-wthie hue with sparse lacing. nose isnt all that bourbon heavy-you still get that earthy, piney resinous hop notes form the origional beer but with a somewhat woody note from the barrel, maybe a bit of tannens. flavors are metallic, lite amber malts, lite resinous hops, but not much reatly to it. hwoever, i was expecting a huge bourbon beer, but its actually pretty subdued. The real arrogant bastard beer comes through in a big way, solid offering just not all that interesting.

Bomber from a mix 4 pack from the Woodland Nugget. Pours dark ruddy/brown with a creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma of light bourbon and dark malt with some fruity hop. Med + body. Flavor is light bourbon, light wood, moderately roasted malt and hop that seems fruit/floral. Itís not very bitter, but itís not very sweet either. Interesting. More time in the barrels might improve it.

20 nov 2014, tap. Ruby, clear, no bubbles. Nose is sweet, winey, alcohol, fruit and flowers. Ned body and moderately fizzy. Faintly woody, some actually harsh bourbon notes, cherries, faint maple syrup. Pretty good!

Pours deep mahogany into a tulip. Tan head with little retention recedes leaving spot lacing to mottle surface. Sweet vanilla, oak and caramel aromas. Thick with caramel, vanilla and resin upfront turning to dry oak in the lasting finish.
