3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
2.5 month old bottle into snifter glass, hazy darker amber color with tan head. Aroma notes of caramel malt, bourbon, vanilla, oak and light citrus/pine hops. Taste adds more hop punch; resin, grapefruit, dark fruits, brown sugar sweetness, wood and light coffee. Medium-heavy body, moderate carbonation, dry, rich with lingering resiny wood and citrus finish. Pretty different from the regular, amp up the bourbon flavors and tone down the hops. Very good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy reddish-caramel-brown colored with a fluffy cream colored head that leaves lots of sticky lacing. Aroma of caramel, bourbon barrel, toffee, and dark fruit. Bourbon and barrel don’t come through as much as expected. Taste has more of it; nice, woody and hoppy and just a little boozy and sweet. Medium bodied, a little dry, and crisp. Nice.

This is a great spin on arrogant bastard; I enjoy the depth and dark toasted character of this ale as it is normally found but by aging this in bourbon cask it added a sweet note of bourbon and a taste of fired oak. If you enjoy arrogant bastard it is a good bet you’ll enjoy the bourbon barrel.

Arrogant Bastard is a really solid Strong Ale and this one is even better. Big vanilla, bourbon and oak aromas with a nice sweet toffee lingering. Taste is tons of bourbon and vanilla. Theres some oakiness and sweet malt and toffee flavors. Theres a lot going on, but it all balances out really well and I think aging this in the bourbon barrels mellowed it out a bit. It’s a really nice looking and tasting beer with tons of flavor. I like it much better than the original arrogant bastard, I think the bourbon really gives it a quality that helps build on the already solid base beer. Great stuff, Stone always puts out quality.

Bottle; poured a glowing Amber, auburn with a frothy khaki head. Aroma of caramel, vanilla. Very earthy and just a bit mellowing from the barrels. Some wood/vanilla and bourbon.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2015-09-22. Dark mahogany brown body with a small beige head. 3+ Aroma is big and bourbony, sweet malt base. Flavour is huge, bourbon and sweet malt. Fruity character throughout. Smooth medium to full bodied palate, soft carbonation. 3+ It grows on me a bit, or perhaps I just acclimatized to the bourbon. It has it’s moments but ultimately its just a bit too brash for me. On tap at Brewdog Clapham, London, UK.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   Brown with a deep ruby hue, nice head and lacing, sandy in color.   Odd Bourbon aroma, seems to be mostly toasted marshmallow and oak.   Not the depth like other Bourbon aged beers.   Soft caramel start, light barrel aging, muted hops on the finish.   Not sure I care much for this version.   At least it has a good body.   Doesn’t have the depth if the barrel aging, is the umph of the hops.   Meh...

Bottle at tasting. Aroma of bourbon vanilla and raisin. Sweet taste of vanilla booze, caramel, raisin and pine in the finish. Better than the base beer.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours out that nice reddish color with a small white head (just like the regular). Aroma is of caramel, muted hops, some oaky/woody/vanilla bourbon notes and light alcohol heat. Taste is complex, really nice balance of bourbon flavors without taking away from the base beer. Vanilla, oak, charred wood, caramel malt, bitter citrus hops that have some of the edge taken off of them. Enjoyable sipper.
