Bottle. Pours dark brown with moderately thick lasting head. Aroma is mild malt, and not very distinctive. Flavor is malty, not complex, not sweet, with significant bitterness in the middle as well as the finish. I donít pick up much in the way of bourbon barrel. To me it seems like the barrel aging mellowed this. Itís good, but itís very pricey and I donít think it is worth the price.

Bottle from brewdog online. Red with small cream head. Aroma of malty and woody. Taste is bitter and sharp, quite dry and surprisingly not very sweet. Slight carbonation with a medium body. Prefer the original, it grows on you though.

12 oz bottle, bottled on 7/6/15 stamped on the neck. 14 days old. thatís pretty fresh.
Pours dark reddish brown, with a dense two finger head, and sticky lace.
Complex aromas, with sweet sticky caramel, oak, vanilla, bourbon, spice, earthy and citrusy hops.
Flavor equally complex. Warm boozy vanilla, dry oak, caramel, spice, grapefruit pith.
Medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation.

355ml bottle, pours clear amber, tiny bubbly head. Aroma is upfront bourbon barrel, caramel malt, pine, rusty, metallic edge but in a good way. Basically the base beer is intact and the bourbon barrel adds to the complexity. I like bourbon barrel beers, I also like AB, so this beer should work for me and it doesnít disappoint. Light-medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation and bitter to finish. Tasty.

Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is malt, roasty, oak, bourbon, fruit and caramel. Taste is high sweet leading to an oaky finish.

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep amber color with a light tan head. Aroma is mild, malty, slight alcohol burn, no barrel. Flavor is mostly malts, light molasses. Again, no barrel. Quite disappointed in this one.

12oz bottle from Xroads. Poured a muddy brownish-amber with murky edges and a smaller to average foamy beige head. Aroma has a lot going on, wood, sweet bourbon, vanilla, some citrus rind and dried out old coconut shavings. Flavor is woody, earthy, citrus peel, bourbon soaked wood chips, touch of vanilla extract. Medium body, lighter carbonation and a lingering aftertaste. Complex with lots going on but not sure it meshes well.

Keg at Bow Bar. Pours deep ruby. Nose is caramel, toffee, sweet vanilla and bourbon. Taste is wood, dry toffee, dried fruits. Doesnt really work that well and BA feels unnecessary.

Copper pour, finger of tan head. Nose is malt, vanilla, kiss of booze. Bittersweet. Middle is smoky wood, decent bourbon pass, creamy caramelized grain, chewy hops. Finish is a hop, baked in malt, dipped in bourbon. Not for every day, but definitely for some days!

Lots of toasted malt and caramel, with notes of oak, vanilla, citrus hops and toffee. Hints of citrus peel and charred wood. The bourbon is faint. Itís very good but I think I prefer the non barrel aged version.
