Deep red amber. Nose is a piney hop, a sweet malty note, a bit astringent. Taste is a sweet bready malt, piney hops, some bitterness on the finish, a bit of wood. Its not bad, but I want more barrel.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Karl Strauss 26th anniversary snifter glass
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $2.67 (I think (lost receipt))
Purchased: May 21, 2015
Consumed: May 22, 2015
Misc.: Bottled on March 31, 2015
Poured an auburn, amber, slightly clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy, khaki-tan head. Above average among of uneven, layered foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Average retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled a nice whiff of caramel and toffee up front, giving way to light butterscotch, wood, faint bourbon, light vanilla, molasses, raisins and figs. This got better after a few whiffs. (Smell - 4.13)
Tasted pretty close to the nose. Got bitter wood, toffee and bourbon right away, with caramel, sugary molasses, light vanilla and dried fruits following up behind. (Taste - 3.88)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.88)
This was pretty good for the most part. I could have gone a lot of different ways with the ratings, but I’d have it again for sure. (Overall - 3.88)

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice brew. Tons of barrell flavour. Hoppy finish with tons of lingering. The pour is a dark amber brown wtih a thin beige head. Aroma is rich, roasted and toffee malts. Citrus and light pine hop notes. Woody and earthy with light vanilla and earthen notes. Nice brew but big and a heavy profile

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Gotta say kind of pumped to drink this. Dark brown some red complete with a massive crown floating on top. Smells like an Arrogant Bastard slight vanilla, maybe bourbon not sure...... it’s ok. Taste good but nothing special. Bitterness and smooth mix nicely. More bourbon shows up in the flavor then the nose........ but not nearly as much bourbon as most other aged brews. No alcohol heat in this one. Taste is thin. Leather, wood, and more stuff and things. Still good but kind of a let down..... is it the fact I can by stone when ever I want now making them taste not as good???? Ya probably

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz brown bottle. Bottled 03/31/15. Coppery orange colour, clear. Head is tight and creamy and beige in colour. Nose has caramel and toffeeish malts/sweetness, light whiff or bourbon and vanilla. Taste has sharp bourbon alcohol, caramel, toffee, wood. Whisky-like bite in the finish, woody notes hang on. Smooth bodied, and actually smooth overall and highly drinkable for an ASA. A nice variation of the original. Just bought a single bottle but I should grab a six pack.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Capone’s. Pours ruby red, with some head that fades. Aroma is unmalted barley, mild rye whiskey, and a bit of cough syrup. Taste is mild malty sweetness little bourbon, followed by grain flavors. Finish is a lasting hard bitterness. Might be better in a year or two.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Barcade Brooklyn with Brendan. Pours a deep red body with thin lacing. Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy with notes of rich fruity malt, sugary syrup, light spice, strong caramel character, maple and bourbon barrel. Overall, too sweet and boozy.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bourban barrel aging adds a nice level of complexity to what I found to be an otherwise mediocre beer. Has a bolder flavour of spice and oak with a rich malt backing. The barrels add a spicy woody profile and almost an herbal bite. Definitely enjoying this a lot more than my first Arrogant Bastard!
