Stone old guardian aged in bourbon barrels. Tap at smallbar Fullerton for Stone takes over the taps.... Pours a mostly opaque reddish caramel brown with a thin soapy white head... Aroma of sticky dark fruits and caramel maltiness with a smaller subtle bourbon feel and more of a vanilla presence on the backend. bourbon is subtely felt. Flavors followed suit to a tee with a predominance of sticky dark fruit, toffee, and vanilla. Just a hint of bourbon with a semi-bitter finish. A little spicy heat on the backend. Pretty subdued barrel presence. Nice but. Body has held up nicely overall. 8/4/7/4/15

2005. Nice big vanilla-y oak aroma comes on strong. Still a good amount of hops in this, but they have been rounded off beautifully by time and the oaky vanilla barrel influence.

on tap at Rattle n Hum. 2006 version pours a light carmel yellow color. mostly clear with a touch of haze. small head cap. smell is rich in light carmel and toffee notes. the bourbon flows smoothly with a dry tannic to clean up the malty sweetness. some alcohol to smell the taste is rich with bourbon vanilla alcohol and carmel malt. some toffee comes though. the woodiness is low overall but the bourbon is rich. overall clean taste. mouthfeel is rich and full bodied. low carbonation with small bubbles. creamy feel. some alcohol to feel. overall i would love to have the opportunity to have this one again sometime.

Tap 2004 ed. at Alewife Baltimore for Stone Total Tap Takeover. Poured a hazy, deep amber with a not much head and little lace. Amazing bourbon nose comes through with toasted coconut, vanilla, baked peaches. Taste is outstanding: fireside cordial qualities bring sweet booziness, warming spicy alcohol, subtle bourbon, vanilla, chewy caramel and toffee. All around outstanding. Body is soft, powerful, lovely.
