Courtesy of kmweaver. Black body with a medium-sized tan head, fading. The nose is chocolate, bourbon, molasses, burnt marshmallow and a large amount of alcohol. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with lots of chocolate, some coffee, bourbon, roast, toffee and a touch of dark fruit. Full body is soft and sticky with moderate carbonation and a hot finish.

Sep 29, 2008 To celebrate my rating number 11,300 I enter this much sought after top-50 beer. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and bourbon. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of bourbon as well as medium notes of wood, roasted malt, and alcohol, leading to a dry roasted finish. The alcohol burns in the top of the throat.

Sep 28, 2008 On tap at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens on 08/03/2008 on day three of RBSG 2008. 2007 Vintage. Dark black body with a small brown head. Big bourbon aroma, with some roasted malt and caramel. Vanilla bourbon flavor with rich roasted malt and caramel. Full body with moderate carbonation.

Sep 27, 2008 On tap at the bistro a little while back. Poured an obsidian black with a two finger brown head. Aroma of oak, bourbon, chocolate. Flavor had vanilla notes along with the aromas from above. Full bodied with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.

Sep 22, 2008 Thanks to kmweaver for sharing. Pour is black with a small brown head. Subtle bourbon and chocolate aroma. Flavor is slightly boozy and roasted chocolate. Bitter. Thin body. Not liking this one too much, but would like to give it another try.

Aug 23, 2008 On tap @ Stone, RBSG. Stark black pour, light tan head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is surprisingly balanced between bourbon, oak, roast, and alcohol, none of them overpowering. The barrel is more apparent in the taste, but still allows the chocolate and roast, plus some vanilla, to come through. Creamy palate. Excellent.
