The beer is Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and it was aged for about a year in a used bourbon barrel. From that wooden cask, we were only able to keg up very little.

2008 version at the Stone Domination by Aces and Ales. Pours a deep, dark brown with a thick brown head and some lacing. Aroma is mostly bourbon with a little oak and coffee. The flavour was two totally different world s for me. It started with straight bourbon, vanilla and charred wood. Then it settled into some coffee, thicker roasted malt and spicy hops. Pretty good and if you like bourbon, this is for you.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2016 500ml bottle, Fyodor’s Classic at Jamey’s. Brewed June 2, 2014; aged 7 months in American Oak Kentucky Bourbon Barrels; Vintage 2015, batch #1; alc. 13%. Pours a very dark brown, almost black with a tan head. Aroma is sweet, saddle, some vanilla and oak notes in the background. Taste is sweet, with vanilla, oak, leather, roasted malt notes. Candied plums and even some chewing gum notes. Very unusual aftertaste, but decent :-)

Sampled at a tasting. Pitch black pour, thin espresso head. Smells like bourbon, maple syrup, espresso, caramel and coconut. Tastes like bourbon, chocolate, cocoa, dark cherries, vanilla and coconut. Soft mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

Black color with brown head. Aroma has bourbon, fudge, chocolate, vanilla and toasted coconut, everything you would want from a bourbon barrel aged RIS. Taste starts slightly sweet with fudge and bourbon but the finish is dark, roasty and bitter. Medium-heavy body, smooth carbonation, a bit of alcohol warmth on the aftertaste. Really nice one, very well made, tasty and balanced.

Bottle shared by weihenweizen. Thanks! The beer pours a dense black with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has mostly bourbon, fudge, and hazelnuts. Big sweetness in the taste along with some boozy chocolate. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Lower carbonation.
