LearninBeer (195), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Nov 10, 2009 Pours a cloudy yellow/orange, with an off white head, creamy with excellent lacing. The aroma is wonderful I could smell hops right after I poured. The flavor is bitter, hops, with a little sweetness kicking in at the end. thebeertourist (2753), Oslo, Norway Nov 10, 2009 Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Orangey golden with a solid offwhite head. Sweet ,malts and brettanomyces aroma. Well-balanced brett flavours, good hop bitterness, fruity, quite dry. An interesting Belgian-style IPA. Finale bien amère. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Nov 4, 2009 Pours golden orange with a soapy off-white head. The aroma has earthy Belgian yeast, butterscotch, band aid and floral hops. Medium / thin body with some papery traits & biting carbonation. The taste is oxidized with wet cardboard in addition to the aroma traits. The finish is harsh and not very pleasant. This was consumed before the best-by date, but hopefully I can get a fresher bottle to rerate at some point. If they came to MO that would make things easier. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 1, 2009 bottle - Pours copper-yellow and mostly clear with a big off white head that leaves some lacing. The aroma is of citrus hops with Belgian yeast underlying it that includes a suggestion of banana. It tastes aggressively hopped. There’s no mistaking the west coast IPA style. There’s some good citrus to go with the crisp bitterness. It’s medium to full bodied and has a long, bitter finish. I’d be curious to try this one side by side with their regular IPA. For me the Belgian yeast was apparent in the aroma, but not much in the flavor where the huge hops dominated. washoppinin (19), Florida, USA Oct 31, 2009 Could of called it Arrogant Belgian Bastard. Califfornia meets Belgium in a bottle. Nice citric hops with the belgian yeast. Very refreshing, yet a little heavy. Would be interesting with hearty foods. Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Oct 30, 2009 On tap at the Fort Worth Flying Saucer. Smells like dried, rotten vegetation. Tastes is dry and slightly hoppy. Spinach. This was ridiculously creamy, though. mjs (1446), Helsinki, Finland Oct 29, 2009 (Draught at BA’s BBF’09) Poured golden and hazy with medium sized white head. Aroma of fruitiness and hops. Medium bodied palate with medium carbonation. Flavours were hops, fruitiness, sweetness, grapefruit and bitterness, Fruity and bitter aftertaste.
