When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Aroma of sweet candies and fruits and a hint of piney hops. Nice deep yellow color with a froth white head. Sweet malt up front, quickly fades. Some funky sweet fruit, peppery hops, and interesting yeast flavors. Finish is dry, with candy and spice notes, along with a sharp bitterness that fades slowly. Have had better Belgian type IPAís but not bad.

This one is very nice! Light amber colour, fresh taste, very hoppy. A bit dry and sharp, but balanced. There is a slight difference to legendary stone ipa, but cannot name it.

650mL bottle from Slowbeer. Enjoy by 06/21/15 Attractive looking beer - pale gold, clean, holds a creamy white head. Really liking the nose on this one - as much as hops tend to be a dominant character, itís that Belgian yeast that comes through first; pepper, clove, apple, sultana, really ripe banana & pear esters, then piney, grassy, citrus hops, and biscuity malt base. Medium-full body, lively but fine carbonation, some minerality about it, seems well attentuated (Saison yeast!?). Body is rather dry, once again iím thinking hoppy Saison!? Thereís pomme fruits, dried earthy spices, banana, apricot, green herbs, biscuity, cereally malts, woody bitterness, quite high. Really remarkable beer - ties Belgian yeast & American hoppy elements together very well - but when I say Belgian, possibly more southern Belgian/Wallonia/French farmhouse/Saison-esque? Let you ponder that, whilst I consume this.

Clear golden body with short white head and good carbonation. Initial hoppy nose then the Belgian notes take over. Pineapple notes in the taste also grapefruit, good bitterness, medium body and good length.

From a bottle. Pours amber. Aroma is typical Belgian-style. Taste is, again, reminiscent of a Belgian ale with a hint of banana. An alcohol finish. A good Belgian ale although I don't necessarily understand the "IPA" part of it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal. I canít believe Iím just trying this one now. Aroma is a a big west coast IPA (a lot like Stone IPA...weird..) but theres also a nice spicy sweet aroma from the belgian yeast. Taste is really incredible. Itís dry and dank from the IPA, but has a nice sweetness from the belgian yeast. I really like this one compared to a lot of the other belgian IPAís because this one keeps that IPA taste and body and lets the belgian yeast compliment it. Itís actually really complex in my opinion and Stone can just make any IPA and make it amazing. Iíd keeping typing but I gotta get back to my beer. Cheers!

Far too busy. Get a lot of funk, yeast, banana and vanilla. Tartness and IPA bitterness. More Belgian than American ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It is trying to do way too much. I do not enjoy the mix of these styles even though I love them both by themselves.
