Commercial Description:
When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Pours copper with a thin white head that sticks around. Smells of citrus, fruity, melons, some soapy hints. Flavor of citrus and some underlying earthiness and a light spicy finish. Some IPA’s are alittle too hoppy for my taste, but this one is so different that I really enjoyed it. Thanks JB.

Appearance: medium reddish gold with orange as well; white head with pretty good head stand; clear Aroma: the distinction from straight American IPAs from yeast is more pronounced than expected; lots of citrus fruit, predominantly; much stronger yeast presence than usual; not necessarily bad Flavor: lovely balance; lots of citrus, fruity hops from America; Belgian yeast provides more of a supporting role on the palate, but it supports nicely!; malt flavor is low; not an over-the-top bitterness; nicely kept under control and in balance with the rest of the flavors Palate: smooth with moderate carbonation; medium-light bodied; without too much astringency

Bottle: Poured a clear bright golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some pretty good lacing. Aroma of slightly bitter hops with a light fruity yeast. Taste is also dominated by some light fruity ester with some dry hoppy notes and some neutral malt in the background. Body is full for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well done thought there is some better example for this style with better balance between yeast and hops.

Picked up this bottle in Ohio. Didn’t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. Why, don’t know, Stone has never disappointed me. Heavy heavy grapefruit and pine aroma, fresh hops basically. Clear, gold appearance with fine lacing. Palate is art. Apricot, wheat, bubble gum, awesome interesting and complex there is more going on there. Nice middle part, velvety, then finishes dry.

Bottle. Caramel brown coloring. No head. Thin in consistency. yeasty, hoppy, doughy. Smooth delivery. Understated at first but emerges with bready finish. acidic on tongue. Yep.

Draft at Stone Bistro. An unclear golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of spices - mainl coriander, but also with medium notes of yeast and peaches. The flavor is also sweet and very spicy - again coriander coming strongest, combined with notes of peaches, leading to a dry spicy finish.

Botled. Poured a nice amber. Small fizzy head. Taste was flowery hops plus a fairly spicy ending. Not bad not too awesome.

Bottle. Pours a hazy deep orange with a small ring of white head. Aroma of melon, sweet citrus and other sweet fruits, and a touch of grassy hops. Flavor has a decidedly hoppy presence with some Belgian yeast, clove, and melon notes also present in the finish. This was actually a successful effort at a true Belgian-IPA blend! Nice beer. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)
