greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Apr 21, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a clear straw color, head that dissapears quickly. Nose is citrus, bananas, and slightly yeasty. Flavor taste like freshly squeezed grapefruit, mild pepper, hint of vanilla, and pine. I know my description sounds bad, but somehow it works. There is a burn from the alcohol. Decent IPA. hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 20, 2009 Slightly cloudy gold appearance. Aroma is a sweet hoppiness. You can definitely pick up on the triple notes. Flavor is candy sweet with a little bit of banana notes, but a definitely cascade hop taste giving a nice grounding and finish to the profile. Really solid beer. crowderm (275), Recklinghausen, Germany Apr 20, 2009 Clear golden pour with an off-white head, very good looking. Excellent aroma of orange, pine, banana. The flavor is a slight step down from the aroma - the pine hops for the most part overpower the mild fruity spice of the beer. Clean, dry palate. Good beer, but not as good as hobblen chouffe. Padron4KM (400), Chandler, Arizona, USA Apr 19, 2009 22 oz bomber.
Slightly hazy golden color, with a thick, tight sticky head. Nice retention.
Fruity Belgian yeast with notes of banana and candi sugar yields to pineapple and mango.
Flavor is pine and resin, slight woodiness and spice. Balanced malt flavor, enough to keep the hops fom running wild.
Alcohol warming on the slightly dry finish.
harbuck76 (127), El Cajon, California, USA Apr 18, 2009 22 0z bomber pours golden nice white head. Smell the belgian yeast hints of fruit. bannana. candi sugar. some citrus. finishes spicy with touch of bitterness. I like belgians love ipas this one was just ok. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA Apr 16, 2009 Pours golden-copper with fluffy head. Aroma of candied sugar, Belgian yeast, orange peel, slight hop bitterness, mango, and pineapple. Flavor is somewhat spicy, somewhat yeasty, somewhat hoppy- like a a less fantastic hobblen chouffe. Nice bit of bitterness at the end with some great floral notes. I feel as though the hops cut through the yeastiness, and they compete rather than complement each other. Not a bad beer by any means, just not quite as good as the chouffe version. Creamy palate with lively carbonation. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 13, 2009 22oz bomber, no date. Aroma of fruity Belgian banana yeast and candi sugar, with a good dose of citrus and tropical fruit hops behind. A tinge of alcohol is noted. Clear caramel orange with a small off-white head, fading to a tattered film and thin ring. Flavor is a little more spicy with some alcohol, though the Belgian and American characteristics otherwise are about the same as the aroma, the the caramel malts turn a little flat, and there’s a little grassiness to the hops toward the finish, which is dry with bitterness around a 4-5. Low carbonation with a medium body. Pretty good beer--this hybrid style is rockin’ when they’re on. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Apr 10, 2009 Bottle. Clear light amber with medium, creamy white head with lace. Yeasty, sweeter aroma with nice hop presence, very spicey. Medium sweet, spice, medium bitterness, pine, cascade citrus, frutiness, yeast. Medium body with active carbonation and creaminess. This is the closest thing to pipedream I have ever had. And I thought we were so unique...
