Commercial Description:
When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Thanks southbay. Pours a very very clear gold with a one finger frothy white head. Not crazy about how clear this beer is. The nose is...interesting, earthy, some yeast character, spicy hops, citrus rind. The flavor is earthy and yeasty, some spicy phenolic flavor, citrusy, some pepper, Belgian yeast and fruity hops kind of taste rotten when combined. Spicy mouthfeel.

Bottle from kyzr. Thanks. Nice fruity aroma of pine grapefruit and fruity belgian characteristics. Pours a bright golden tone with a pretty nice thin head and sticky lacing. Nice bitter sweet flavors of belgian yeast caramel grapefruit and pine. Fruity bitter finish. Active carbonation. Delicious beer. Drinks very well.

Nice crisp piney hop aroma. Pours a clear amber, with a big fluffy white head that fades quickly leaving nice lacing behind. This starts off with a bit of sweet fruit, similar to melon, with a nice bitter finish. A bit light in the mouthfeel department, but very drinkable.

Bottle from Sun Devil. Pours a rich apricot color with a frothy white head and steady carbonation. Smells and tastes of balanced sweet citrus, hops, and flour. Bitters slightly as it warms. A solid IPA.

Honey colored pour with a pillowy ivory head that leaves significant lacing on the inside of the glass. Aroma of citrus, douglas fir, and freshly spun cotton candy. Flavor is grassy, biscuity, with grapefruit and orange peel lingering on the palate. Medium mouthfeel. Decent, well put together brew but not a personal favorite.

Bomber courtesy of BOLTZ7555 – thanks Jason! Pours a crystal clear light amber with a large 3 finger off white head and chunky lacing. Nose is citrus and floral hops. Taste is ripe citrus and caramel for the most part with a hint of spices in the finish before giving way to bitter resin. Medium mouth feel. I enjoyed it.

Pours gold into a tulip. Fluffy white head recedes to skim surface leaving spotted sheets. Brett and grapefruit aromas. Bitter grapefruit pits and brett from front to back. Very balanced between the two. Lasting grapefruit rind finish.

22 at Uber. Crystal clear. Pale gold with dense white sheets of lace. Huge candi sugar and watermelon on the nose, along with some mango. Creamy medium body with active carb. Sweetness of belgian yeast combined with the sweetness of west coast hops. Nice stuff. Hard to make a belgian ipa, evidently, that really stands out from the crowd, but this is another yummy one, no real flaws. Drink it with no fear.
