Bam! Orange and lemon peel punch to the nostrils. Quite pungent citrus aroma, with a touch of yeast, obviously. First sip was a little surprising; this brew is a thinner body than I was expecting. Not weak and tenuous or anything, but I was expecting a thicker feel. After the citrus and yeast, the brew is grassy and floral. Make no mistake, this beer is Californian before Belgian. The only thing I wasn’t impressed with was the appearance. Decent head that recesses into a bit of lace, but the color is a real unassuming, light amber color. But you know, who cares, it’s a beer, not a mural. Delicious brew, and worth the price of the bomber. Nothing breathtaking, but tasty.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
October 1, 2015. Bottle at SBWF.
Light hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is hoppy, fruity and spicy with
white bread, grass, citrus, pine, banana and some herbs. Taste is light sweet, fruity and spicy, medium bitter. Finish is bitter with grassy, herbal, slight dry spicy notes, some citrus as well, light malty bready sweetness with some peach notes.
Medium bodied, average carbonation.

W aromacie chmielowo, cytrusy i tropiki, mango i belgijskie drożdże w postaci lekkiej przyprawowości, dobre proporcje.

33cl can from Erzbierschof Zurich. Lots of Belgian-style indeed. Typical yeast and candy aroma over west coast aroma hops. Very bitter taste with a crisp carbonation. Medium long and mostly bitter finish. Works well.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Straw colour and small head from can. Taste is light hoppy but the Belgian yeast takes the biggest place in this beer. Palate is a little short but still quite OK. This one was brewed in Berlin Germany.

330ml can as ’Stone Cali-Belgique IPA’, 6.9%, brewed in Berlin, 1 month old. Consumed on the train back to Wales. Aroma is sugary, honey, caramel, musty candi sugar, those banana chew sweets. Body is frothy with soft carbonation. Taste is spicy, floral, banana esters, quite dry, very Belgian influenced, some booze, melon, pastries, drying pine vibe. A pleasant, complex mix of sugars, hops and yeast. Good stuff. But would prefer either a hoppy IPA or a malty Belgian ale to this amalgamation.

Can. Golden color with lacing white head. Aroma has caramel, yeast and some floral hops. Taste is malty with long bitter and fruity but quite dry aftertaste. Flavors of yeast, caramel, pine, resin. Nice combo of both sides.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very well done mix between Belgian yeast and American hops aroma. Citrus, bananas and medium, nice bitterness all come together in non-intensive, moderate way. Consistent and decent beer.

Hard to describe this beer, there are definitely more belgian characteristics than ipa ones, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing because its a damn tasty beer.

On tap at Erzbierschof. Aroma is bubblegum hop notes and the pour is a gold orange colour. Flavour starts off all belgian, with bread, orange and spices, before a good bitter finish. I really like this.
