When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Not a huge fan of this IPA. Very yeasty aroma and flavor, the hops are somewhat subdued. I would peg this as a pale ale. If you’re looking for a good IPA from Stone get the Ruination IPA.

12oz bottle on 25-Nov-2015, poured into a long stemmed tulip glass. Hazy amber colour with a medium sized fluffy tan coloured head. Medium body and carbonation. Aroma of yeast, caramel, spices and sweet fruit. Sweetness up front - undeniably an IPA but followed by banana, yeast, spices and some citrus. Interesting.

Bottle as a birthday gift from Chris. Cheers! Pours golden with a thin white head. Mild citrus and yeast aroma. The taste has bready yeast and plenty of citrus. Lingering bitter finish. Very nice.

Keg at Big Country, Stockholm. Hazy pale amber, rich head. Fruity marzipan aroma with elderflowers and citrus. Mid dry with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Grainy and marzipany with buckwheat and resin. Really bitter finish.

4a cata RateBeer Cimmeria Oviedo 09..11..2015. Fcpref 08..28..2015. Color rubio con espuma blanca. Aromas y sabores maltosos al principio algo dulces pasando a herbaceos algo cítricos con amargo final también herbaceo seco bien persistente. Buena.

16oz at stone brewing at the airport. Not for me. The Belgian part is not ideal. Clovey, medicinal. Had to down it and move on to the next.

Beer 2 of USA 2015; light effervescent in glass. Crisp dry bitter finish coming from the IPA, with complimenting estery notes from the belgian yeast. Some banana on the nose. A good fusion

Rating #1295 - 21.10.2014 - Stone launch @craftbeeryeg. Golden pour, small white head, minimal lacing. Aroma is belgified, lots of citrus. On the palate, similar tropical flavours, mild resin, mild pastry dough malt. Medium bodied and extraordinarily balanced. Great depth and crushable at 6.9%

Pours a clear golden colour with a big off-white head that stays a while and creates foamy lacing. Citrus aromas with hints of Belgian Ale yeast, other fruitiness. Grainy malts taste start with a big bitter middle and lingering into the finish. Smooth oily mouthfeel. Lots of grassy notes, but not enough Belgian ones.
