When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a 0.5L wheat glass. Pours a golden hazy yellow/orange with a smallish white head. Smells of yeast, bread, citrus and bubblegum. Tastes of citrus, grapefruit, peppery, biscuit and caramel. Medium to full bodied with a lingering aftertaste of belgian funk and bitterness. I don’t really like belgian ipa’s and this one is no different. Not bad for it’s style I suppose. My dislike of the style is unfortunately factored in the scoring, there really was no way for me to do otherwise with this.

Bottle at home from whole foods naples. Pours light amber with white foam head. Aroma is spice, citrus, yeast, bread. Flavour is bittering lemon, grapefruit, orange rind. Bit of clove, bread. Carbonation is medium but you get a nice fizzy lift on the finish. Light body but plenty going on. Very nice.

Slightly cloudy amber with a good frothy white head. Citrus aroma with a hint of sweetness and Belgian yeast notes. Body is on the lighter side with a slightly creamy feel. Taste starts like an IPA carried by mandarin orange and grapefruit, then flips to the Belgian style in the dry finish. Really good.

A bitter brew, but still a flavorful Belgian yeast inspired IPA. Pours medium golden with a light, but frothy head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650ml bomber pours a golden orange color with a finger and a half of white head that settles to leave some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is pine and citrus with some yeasty notes. Taste is a pine and citrus hop bitterness with a grainy malt sweetness with a light dry yeasty finish. Medium bodied with decent carbonation that pleases the palate. Definitely worth sampling this one.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a frothy white head. Aroma of spicy belgian yeast, pepper, citrus hops, grapefruit and fruity notes. Taste is spicy belgian yeast, black pepper, pine, grapefruit and citrus hops with a nice well rounded bitterness. Dry finish make this pleasant to drink however the body seems a bit thin. Big and bold on the nose and the flavor just doesn’t carry as much of a punch.

Aroma: yeast, grain malts, intense flowers. Appearance: clear gold, small, white head. Taste: medium bitter. Palate: grain malts coming up, sweets, light bitters again towards the end. Overall: nice IPA, excellent aroma and palate. Pint at Stone Brewing, Escondido.

Pours dark gold/light amber with a thin, wispy, white head that dissipates and leaves thin lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, herbs, floral, nuts, brown sugar, and resin...pretty nice. This is a good balance between a California IPA and an amber Belgian ale. A little too heavy on the resinous, high alpha hops for me, I prefer the Belgian style, but overall refreshing and very drinkable. Has a bitter aftertaste but it’s manageable. Focus is on citrus flavors, strong bitter hops to balance the sweetness, a straightforward version of an IPA/Belgian cross, nicely done.

High expectations. Pour is lager esk and more on the yellow side than orange. Nice thin lacing that holds. Aroma is a little lacking. Mild citrus, and bittera. Flavor is much more citrusy with pine needles. Medium body. Meh wish it was fresher
