COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Nice citrus hops nose. Taste is big time grapefruit. Nice balance with some bitter finish. Solid offering.

TAP Craft Beer Fest Vienna 2016 v1 Estery aromas of clove, bubblegum, some citrus and grains. Flavors were similar with lots of biscuity malt, esters, and piney bitterness. Medium body with medium carbonation. Mouthfeel was thin and a bit slick.

Clear golden colour with Nicky foamy head. Limited aroma. Slightly bitter taste with a bit of hoppiness. Ok, but not the best ipa in the world. (K)

Saeglopur (1577) - Vienna Woods, AUSTRIA - APR 30, 2016
Draught at CBF Wien.
Dark golden, clear body, with a big, stable, creamy, lacing, slightly yellow head.
Aroma of citrus, orange, grass, grapefruit, subtle tropical fruits, candy.
Tastes of grapefruit, lemon zest, resin, grass, some passion fruit, candy.
Medium, a bit creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes bitter, medium dry, zesty, herbal, grassy, a bit sweet.

Nice one, although not so special. A bit heavy, on the one hand quite harshly bitter, on the other hand with a quite heavy sweet malt backbone. Not on par with the other IPAs from Stone I’ve had, while still enjoyable.

Tap at Craft Bier Fest Wien. Mostly centered on noble Saazer hops. However seems oxidized to me. Otherwise it is pretty clean and simple, with nothing really poking out.

Botella. Presencia dorada limpia con corona blanca persistente y carbonatacion media. Aroma a pan, levaduras y citricos. Sabor como si se tratara de una blond belga con matices lupulados, fruta madura, cereal y final dulce y amargo

Sample at BGM 2016. Lots of typical Belgian phenolic notes, high bitterness, lively carbonated.

Kauge (1266) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 19, 2016
Tap sample at Tallinn Craft Beer Festival. I should’ve tried Stone IPA as well - would’ve been nice to compare. Oh well. This one was really good though: pretty harsh bitterness and distinct Belgian-ness to go with that, soft yet kinda aggressive, dusty and dry. Poured clear amber-golden with a smallish white head. Must repeat.

Citrusy aroma. The flavour is similar with some belgian yeast flavour in the background. Really dry finish. Nice beer!
