When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Live stone beers this one was unique. It was less hoppy to me than the regular ipa. Lighter head. Really liked it but not as much as the regular. If you don't like the bitterness of the regular ipa then this is one to buy. Stone is a great brewery! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

An A for effort. Belgian yeast doesnt mesh as well here as some other Belgian/American ipa hybrids. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours clear golden, quick white head. Some lacing and retention. Aroma of clove, licorice and funk. Taste is slightly sour, a little sweet with assertive bitterness. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, sticky mouth feel. Finishes bitter and long. Tasting notes of banana, grapefruit, mango, allspice, tangerine and clove. Iím really impressed with this tasty, complex offering from Stone. Good stuff!

Poured into a wide red wine glass this occasion. The smell is of citrus, fragrent hops and slight banana with bubblegum scent. The appearance a golden hazy hue with a minimal rocky head. The taste is awesome! Basically a wheat beer thats heavily hopped. It has a medium bitter and slight sweetness from the Belgian yeast. Very drinkable, overall all its still a strong IPA, closer to a double or imperial ipa than a wheat beer. Nice beer if you are tired of drinking the basic ipa.

The aroma is fruity and floral. The taste is bitter and fruity. Good bitterness that fills the mouth for a long while. Good beer that is just right. Follow me @ Kung av Ųl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bottle: Nearly clear, light amber, with a short white head. Belgian yeast, lemon aroma. Taste is yeasty, light fruit, citrus, white pepper. Strong piney hopping. A nice blend of styles.

I thoroughly enjoyed this brew! Why can more beer reviews just be about whether or not it was a great beer-perience?

Pours clear golden color, thin lacy white head. Aroma is spicy, Belgian yeast, honey malts, a bit of hoppy pine. Definitely smells Belgian, doesnít smell much like an ipa. Taste is impressive. Nice mix of spicy, Belgian yeast flavors with an ipa backbone. Pine, honey and a medium bitterness. Light body, medium carbonation. Nicely done.

Bottle. Clear yellow. Dense creamy head. Aroma is dough, spicy, grassy. The taste is like a hoppy witbier with a funky kick. Iím not so sure about this one. Nice treat though.

Appearance was clear gold with diminishing creamy white 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are simple pale sweetness, bubblegum, clove, bananas with soft earthy, spicy hops and licorice. Taste are fruity esters upfront then malt sweet middle. The leathery, mild floral, spicy, piney soft hop finish. Palate was soft creamy CO2 with medium body, then fruity estery soft hopped finish. Overall a good Belgian IPA, needs some new tropical hops thou.

Bottle pour. Floral and pine hops in aroma. Orange yellow color with lacing head. Hops are overwhelming on the first sip, but once past that I taste floral and pine hops with citrus, sweet malt and yeast to back it up. Lingering aftertaste of grapefruit and earth. A unique, enjoyable brew.
