Commercial Description:
When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Bottle. Aroma of bubblegum, hay, circus peanuts, flowers (particularly lavender), honey, crackers. Flavor moderately sweet, crackery again, with strong floral bitterness and lingering lavender. A bit chalky, quite dry. This beer really transcends classification. Crazy stuff, and good stuff.

On tap at Stone Bistro during RBSG 08. Opaque orange color with a wet white head. Sheets of lacing. Nose is strong tropical fruit, primarily mango with some grapefruit. Flavor is yeasty with a less intense mango note. Really interesting hop flavors but not very much bitterness. Also some clove spiciness. Dry medium finish, smooth mouthfeel.

Belgian yeast on a stone ipa. Pours blond with diminished head. Good carbonation. Dank hops, thick warm aroma. Fruit...lemon, nice and bitter.

Pours a nice cloudy dark yellow orange with a nice finger’s worth of white head. Aroma is big citrus hops, lots of grapefruit and lemon peal. Underneath those hop notes are some really nice subtle yet apparent spicy Belgian yeast aromas. First frew sips are nice biting tasty juicy bitter hops explosions but as your palate gets accustomed the Belgian notes creep in as well offering this beer many different layers and flavor profiles. Very nice.

Poured at the Gulfstream beer fest. Pours a nice gold color with a small white head. Aroma is really nice and unique. I get yeast, citrus, spices, bread, honey and some really nice floral hops. Flavor is full of spices, yeast, great floral hops and a great mouthfeel. Nice. VERY nice.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours amber with a good 1 finger, white head. The aroma is of bread and citrusy-pine. The mouthfeel is pretty complex. It has the smoothness of a belgian and the bite of an ipa. It balances out pretty nicely and the bready-malt flavors compliment the more abrasive hop flavors. pretty good brew.

Gold-orange pour with a white head. Aroma is sweet, mostly citrus and hops. Flavor is balanced between the malts and hops. Great citrus hops flavor with a nice bitterness at the finish. Very good but not as potent as I expected. Decent alcohol content which is masked very well. Almost sessionable.

Pours clear-amber, with a medium cream-colored head, good lasting lacing. Smells of grapefruit, grass, pineapple, bananas and pine. Smells fantastic. Medium body, velvety and smooth. Tastes of caramel, and banana, with pine and grapefruit. A fantastic blend of styles. Sadly, I accidentally spilled several ounces on the floor. I will have to buy another bomber.
