Just not really my cup of tea. Smells super funky, tastes of wine and Belgian yeastiness. I wanted to like it, but was too funky for me.

On tap at Beer Mongers - Really wanted to like this one more.... Pours hazy orange with off-white head. The aroma has lots of red wine barrel, hints of oakiness, light Belgian notes and overall more wine heavy than expected. It has a medium body with light roughness and mildly abrasive carbonation. The beer starts off with lots of woodiness, earthy yeast and light wine notes. The finish is very very oaky. The oak was too heavy for me and the hops are not detected by me. Oh well.

Fantastic beer, almost saison style aroma, the time in red wine barrels gives a fantastic flavour. Excellent. Drunk during a tasting with stone’s Greg . Memorable.

stone tap takeover in tolland. Strong wine flavors balance with fruit esters and hops. Lots going on, tropical and dark fruits, all of them

Cloudy orange with a thick white foam. Aroma is fruity with some hop citrus. Flavors are slightly sour red fruit and some hop oil. Finish is dry and tart. Nice beer.

On tap. Hazy Golden Brown pour, minimal White head. Red wine is very apparent in both Nose and taste, typical IPA besides that. Sort of strange, but good, at least for one pint. Red wine again in the long bitter finish. Soft carbonation, heavy body.

On draught at O’Niell’s. Pours a dense orangish amber color with a fine-bubble head. Big "bret" aroma but fortunately does dominate flavors. Medium body, nice hop flavor and supporting malty sweetness. Great complexity from wood aging. A lot going on but it works.

On tap at O Niell's. Very dry. Rather fruity in a nice way. Funky aroma. Refreshing and tart. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Gold pou slightly tanner head. Smell is barrel dominant. Oak and vanilla and some wine. IPA is tasted in the flavor with some bitterness and spice, still a lot of barrel, vanilla and red wine soaked pears.

10oz on tap at Neons, for $7. Pretty much entirely hazy orange amber color. Thin white head. Leaves good splotches, ropes of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, crisp lighter carbonation. Lightly slick body, then mrs dry in the finish. Spicy tannic taste up front. Get a lot of red wine barrel up front, as well as a general tart sourness to the taste, and moderate IPA bitterness. No mistake, this is way different than standard cali-belg. Some spicy earthy hops, tons of red wine tannin, and interesting spicy kind of grapefruity tropical fruitiness. A bit more heat than standard cali-belg, but it’s a mild, welcoming warmth. Oak. A lot less belgian yeast influence than I remember from standard cali-belg. Getting the apple cider, pear notes. Vinous, peppery. Touch of vanilla, slight mint. Really interesting, how strikingly different this is from the base. Kind of a lingering tannic-tart spicy sweet taste at the end, makes it harder to drink, but overall, this was very a very interesting, complex beer. 5oz of this would have gone a long way, 10oz made me write a page and half. Very interesting, what a red wine barrel did to this IPA. Much more interesting than expected.
