2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 jgb9348 (3371) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAY 21, 2008
Nice crisp clear amber coloured body with a thick white head. Aroma of fresh malt, strong hops, cardboard, metal and a hint of fresh fruit. Medium-bodied; Strong metallic twang and a bitter malt flavour up front with some hops and a bit of yeast in the finish. Aftertaste shows some body, alcohol and a definite effervescent taste. Overall, not a great beer - worth trying perhaps, but really, many beers are better worth your money! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle (as ’Hook & Ladder Golden Ale) purchased on 03-May-2008 from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington D.C., on 20-May-2008.

I had the Hook & Ladder Golden Ale label. Clear golden color with a frothy white head. Light nose with faint grass, light malts and a little soap. Crisp grainy malt flavors with a faint tangerine/orange citrus finish and light toast. Easy drinking beer.

Bottle, labeled as Hook & Ladder Golden Ale. Clear gold in color with a small white head. Grassy nose full of straw and a dash of corn, hardly any hops to speak of. Flavor is crisp malt, sweet and a bit grainy. Somewhat refreshing, though. Could be a decent lawnmower beer.

Hook and Ladder Golden Ale. Rating #993. Pours orange/gold, with a white head. Aroma is grass, malt, and grain. Flavor is malt, grass, and corn. Nothing special here, but this would probably be a nice summertime session brew.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 scraff (2118) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 7, 2008
Hook and Ladder Golden Ale - Clear gold, creamy white head. Nose held crisp fruity notes with a touch of grassy grains. Dirty earth and soft fuzzy fruit flavors balances on a faint bitterness. Light bodied, soft carbonation, mild fruity finish. Not bad for what it is...
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 swanmann (393) - Norman, Oklahoma, USA - FEB 23, 2008
Clear and brassy with white head and lacing. Mild floral aroma. The flavor is bitter up front with weak malts and no real finish. It’s not terrible but there’s not much to it.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 blipp (3600) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - FEB 21, 2008
Bottle. Labeled as ’Hook and Ladder Golden Ale’. Pours clear amber with a white head. Aroma is light and malty with a bit of fruit. Medium/thin body. Flavor is again pretty light and boring, with notes of sweet malt and wheat. Pretty unimprerssive.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 jb (1540) - Rochester, New York, USA - FEB 10, 2008
Very light beer, with no taste. Really nothing to say about it. Sweet and corn taste in palate. Boring.
