sirsirus (60), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Aug 13, 2006 Suprising winner. On dry side, interesting flavors like sweet grapefruit. Mild carbonation, minimal head but medium body, dark amber color. Solid IPA with thurough palate.
glaze0101 (77), USA Jul 6, 2008 Bottle poured. The aroma was nice on this beer (grass, and citrus) but everything else was disappointing. The hops are not really balanced with anything and thus overpowering, and this comes from a guy who like hoppy brews. bitter and a slightly off aftertaste. Imaena (160), Portland, Maine, USA Jul 2, 2008 Draught @ Bull Feenys 08’.
Dark murky brown with great head formation. Trees and fresh cut grass. Great nose with a tangy tartness. Well hopped and decently crafted flagship IPA. MrManning (1411), London, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2008 Bottle-Deep mahogany liquid, pours a frothy, and short lived eggshell head. The aroma is heavy on the bread crust and dark fruit, with some hops (pine, citrus), and quite a dose of raspberry iced tea. Tasted of fruity malts, bread crust, some caramel, a little low on the hops, and certainly low on bitterness. Finishes with a blast of raspberry iced tea. Strange example of an IPA, and if I had to guess, I’d say an EPA. Beershine (1059), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 20, 2008 Draught @ Great Lost Bear. Warm honey-gold. Small off-white head. Lovely aroma like a forest full of hops. Pine, spruce. Smooth and quaffable. Floral, lovely tree leaf and fir tree flavors. Good times. twitcher (110), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Jun 2, 2008 Not a good sample of an IPA brewed in the northeast. Looks nice- amber color, even pillow head that sticks around. Smell= very sharp citrus hop notes. Chalky, dry hop flavors go along with a very aggressive bitterness. Hop profile goes downhill fast into vegetal flavors with some nasty spent tobacco thrown in. Chalky flavors accentuate carbonation, making for less-than-pleasant mouthfeel.
