rmalloy (178), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA Mar 26, 2006 Excellent. one of the best IPA’s I’ve ever had. On tap at Cambridge Common. Great balance of malt and hops, and a complex depth of hoppy flavor, with lots of pine. Maybe I’m missing something, but I thought this was great, and highly underrated.
crazyvin (1132), New York, USA Oct 30, 2008 poured a dark amber hue with a bone color head on it that had great retention and almost sublime retention. A large number of little yeast goodies grovin in side the amber body. Aroma was of pine hops and some caramel notes, a few fruit notes. Flavor was balanced between hops that were never too bitter, and sweet malts both caramel like and fruit. Some bread like notes. Finish was smooth, not crisp. Easy to drink. michael-pollack (1683), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 22oz. Bottle: Aroma of floral hops, caramel malts, biscuit, grapefruit, apricots, tropical fruit, and tangerine. Poured amber in color with a mig, creamy, off-white head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of large particles throughout. Excellent lacing. Lightly sweet, light to medium bitter flavor. Tastes of hops, caramel malts, vanilla, resin, tropical fruit, tangerine, and grapefruit. Medium body. Average texture. Hoppy, resinous, citrus-fruit finish. juiceisloose (341), Windermere, Florida, USA Aug 29, 2008 Courtesy Oakes and Beershine. Pours a dark orange body with a small white head that left minimal lacing behind. The aroma was of citrus fruits mainly orange and grapefruit to go with some bitter citrus hops to go with the sweet caramel malt base. The flavor follow suit with the caramel and toffee malts coming through with their sweetness to go with the big citrus hops and fruit. Medium bodied and syrupy mouthfeel round out the palate to go with a lot of carbonation. This was decent for a IIPA. Beershine (1526), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2008 dark gold-copper. Aromatic, robust hop profile, very earthy. Interesting palate is soft with a lot of sweetness supporting the hops. I much prefer the 420 (yum) but this is fun. boto (1256), Granby, Connecticut, USA Aug 17, 2008 22oz. bomber: This one pours a fairly clear, slightly orangish lighter amber color. A bit of an off-white head on mine. The nose is citrusy, and mainly grapefruit and a hint of orange. Maybe a hint of grassiness also. Some malts poking their head up also. The taste is good. Somewhat surprising to have some of the malt sweetness hit you first, followed by a citrus hop bite. Pretty well balanced. Nice!
