Imaena (175), Portland, Maine, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle @ the Smiths 08’.
Dark brown/black pour. Sweet maltiness with cocoa and coffee in the background. Finish is dry and the mouth feel is a bit thin. Angeloregon (1549), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 7, 2007 Poured a dark rich chocolaty color with a medium off-white head. Sweet taste while finishing dry and bitter from Cascade hops. Smooth and well balanced. Dryness in finish really stood out. Perfectly not overwhelming. blklab2007 (507), Connecticut, USA Nov 28, 2007 bottle poured into a snifter is real dark nut brown in color with minimal head and lighter carbination. aroma of sweet malt, chocolate, alcohol, and licorice. flavor has nice malts not too bitter, mouth feel is on the lighter side for a porter, and finishes with some bitterness and roasted coffee. could use a little more of something, good beer just not as good as there others have been. rocbyter (594), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Nov 19, 2007 Brown sugar and fruit malts in the aroma, some coffee also detectable. Dark amber color. Small tan head. Moderately sweet beginning with a slight amount of bitterness in the finish. Mild creaminess. Dorwart (1593), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Nov 3, 2007 Decent head with light carbonation. Roasty and chocolaty aroma with some sweet malts and dark fruit. Color is a very dark brown. Ooh, not that great a flavor. Thin and watery with an astringent bitterness and some roasted grains. Bit of carbon and coffee bitterness. Finishes strong and roasty with a lingering bitterness and chalkyness. Not very good.
