Pours hazy red/brown with with a small offwhite head, specks of lace. Smells mellow sweet malty with lots and lots of earthy type peppers. Tastes of earth and peppers only a hint of sweetness. Lingering peppers and a bit of heat. Medium body, good carbonation.

Pours a burnt amber brown color with a white head. Pepper, caramel, toffee, resin, hop and oak aroma. Caramel, toffee, toast, resin and lots of peppers. Full body and moderate carbonation. Very hot pepper finish. Batch 08. 2013.

Originally sampled on 2/17/14-A beer that makes no sense in the fact that one or even 3 people can’t finish the bottle. It is very hot to the point of making it impossible to finish. In a sample pour it makes sense as the base beer is very well made and the peppers are big and powerful. For the style its a good beer but in the end its just too hot.

Quelle bière atroce. Point final. Bon ok je vais être un peu plus exhaustif. La bière est cuivrée voire rougeâtre et est surmontée d’une mousse à priori épaisse mais qui se sauve rapidement. Ça sent le piment à plein nez lorsqu’on y plonge le pif, mais des notes boisées et vanillées sont également perceptibles (à peine). En bouche, c’est horriblement piquant. Beaucoup trop. What the fuck. Ce n’est pas du tout agréable. Y a un peu de bois et un peu d’alcool "sucré" mettons, mais fuck that, cette bière là arrache la gueule et c’est désagréable.

750ml brown bottle sample at RBAG 2015. A brownish golden beer with thin white foam. Peppery, hot nose. Taste is extremely hot, nothing but peppers. Lasting and dominating heat. You can’t pick anything else out in there... a few sips of this and I was done.

Bottle, shared at RBAG 2015 by Kevin. Medium Amber orange, vegetal capsicum aroma. Sweet caramel is quickly obliterated by scathing peppery heat. So hot as to be uncomfortable. This will have its fans, by I cannot drink any more of this. Whoa

Bottle - Lots of peppery jalapeño. Cloudy copper with a ton of floaties. It burns and is undrinkable. Why would they do this?

500ml bottle - 2013 vintage - pours a nice amber color with a light tan head . Pungent pepper spice aroma , slightly fruity . Taste is sweet spicy oak and bourbon up front but the pepper spice builds .... And builds .... And builds ! Not overwhelming but not for beginners. Very good !

When you eat peppers, your butt hurts. But what happens when you DRINK peppers? The bottle pours a murky burgundy color. I don’t remember the Lucky Bastard being nearly as dark as this -- color must have been drawn from the peppers or barrels. One finger of silky light tan froth sits atop the liquid. Smells like jalapeño, fresh and green. Some floral hops; a dollop of caramel. Odd mix, this blend of sugary malts and vegetal peppers. Flavor is good up front. Nice toasty oak, vanilla, caramel and toast initially. Some of that green pepper flavor shows up as well. The swallow brings the heat and more toasty oak, along with a smack of orange peel and some fresh-cut grass. Capsaicin cleans out the flavor, making pepper the only thing you’re left tasting between sips. Medium body, soft carbonation. Heat is pretty substantial, but not unendurable. This is better than reviews have led me to believe. The heat is one notch above what I’d like -- cut the number of peppers in half and it would be perfect.

Bottle (2013) shared by wolf. Pours a murky red color almost no head. Nose is off the charts! Tons of vanilla/bourbon and spicy peppers. Taste is not for freshman...strictly lineman... Tons of heat on this big boy. Spicy notes on the front of your palate... burning on the back of your throat. INTENSE... Sipper... Medium slightly sticky body but it is hard to focus on anything but the heat from the beer. This is a love or hate beer. I loved it, but share the heat with a friend!

Bottle, 2013 series Batch 08 9.6% abv, bourbon barrels consumed Feb 2015. Pours mahogany with nice head, some lacing, quite hazy. Aroma is fruity, some hops, malt, some hint of peppers to come. Taste is really complex, dark fruit, bitterness, heat from the peppers. Pepper character is complex with a nice rounded but punchy profile. I happen to love the heat level in this one .. it must have been something when fresh(er). The bourbon character comes on at the end with the lingering heat. Complex and tasty.
