Pours hazy red/brown with with a small offwhite head, specks of lace. Smells mellow sweet malty with lots and lots of earthy type peppers. Tastes of earth and peppers only a hint of sweetness. Lingering peppers and a bit of heat. Medium body, good carbonation.

This made Dan cry :-). Spicy, chile, green, raw green, spicy, hot, maybe even awful, approaching an onion, character, and a bit of chile sweetness as well, smells like dried habaneros.

Spicy, hot, green chile, a lingering heat that gets hot, with very little base beer, perhaps some barrel heat / spiciness that serves to accentuate the chile character with spice and hot alcohol.

Another dud, that isnít quite so bad as Punishment, a bit less spicy, perhaps some oak, but very little to non-existent base beer character.

Bottle. It poured a cloudy brown color with a white head. The aroma was of peppercorn, grass, malts and a hint of spice. The taste was of peppers, heat, spice with a malty background. Not sure what to think. Hmmm.

Bottle, looks like a mistake. Brown pour with tan head. Dark malts, boozy aromas, light spice and pepper tones. Flavor is super hot, peppers, spice, boozy and malty tones.

Well, I thought Iíd give this a chance, since Iím a fan of drinking the old to make way for the new. Iím sure Iíd be out of favor with Stone about my reviews of their beer, but Iím so little, and theyíre so big, Iím pretty sure they donít care what I think. Letís see how this has held up? - This is the first time Iíve ever needed to use a corkscrew to open a beer, and there is no reason I had to say that. When the cork popped, I felt an insane desire for tacos. Then I leaned into the open neck of the bottle and realized why. A monster of a chili pepper nose, thatís why. The aroma is only that. Nothing else. I guess Iíll move on to the pour. - The beer is the hue of a diluted caramel soda, a vivacious tan foam seethes furiously on the surface and threatens to disappear in a matter of minutes by boiling itself alive. I tip the glass to my lips and cautiously sip. Holy chili peppers. Donít get this shit on your hands and touch your eyes, folks. Now, I like my food really spicy, and if this came with a side of guacamole and tortilla chips, Iíd be game. In my brew? Not a fan unless itís an accent to the brew itself. Instead, this kills everything about the original beer. This is going to be an easy review. Let me bring you all in for my conclusion. This is hot. The ingredients in this should have gone into a batch of tamales, enchiladas or into a nice bowl of menudo to give it a kick. The aroma is hot, the taste is hot, (I know...it doesnít qualify), the flavor is hot, the finish is hot. Iíve got through almost two snifters to verify that Iím not judging on a sip. Itís still only vegetal hot. I think my ulcer is going to start kicking me in a little while, so Iíd better be quick and finish this up. - Yes, this was a Crime. It was a rip off. Iíll be pouring the remainder of this down the drain and hope it doesnít ruin the balance in my septic tank. Shame on you, Stone, for charging so much for this atrocity. Shame on me for paying it.

January 11th, 2014 - Stoneís Crime is a heavy price to pay to increase the number of beers Iíve had to pour down the drain by one. For all its faults, it is a pretty beer, the color of a deep, crimson shaded plum, with a good finger of saw dust colored foam. But the experience quickly goes down hill. The aroma is close to diced green chilis, with an added echo of sweetness from the bourbon barrel aging. But mostly this just tastes like abominable green salsa, with syrup mixed in for the sake of capriciousness. On the taste, itís sweet up front and sweet in the back, like two beers served in one single slurp. The front is almost a little sour and sweet, and then suddenly the peppers swoop in, kicking over tables, smashing priceless vases, and mooning the neighbors. Tons and tons of spice and pepper wreck the place, moving this beer very, very far into the undrinkable spectrum of exotic flavors.

500 ml. 2015 version, 9.6% abv. Pour is lightly foggy brownish-copper with a choppy, Swiss-cheese foam above. Nose is rusty caramel, earthy vegetable and peppery iron. Tastes of toffee, vanilla, mineral water and earthy spiced maize. Long finish brings the capsaicin heat which takes over after the second sip. Medium-heavy body has low-medium carbonation and leans sticky but the pepper burn more than compensates. It is what they say it is, Iíll give íem that. But why, oh why did I buy this beer? I need to give more scholarly scrutiny to Stone beers in the future before blindly purchasing; this plus the Carrot Cake fiasco makes it two strikes in a row.

Dark brown witha thin lacing of tan head. Aroma is a mix of piney hops and smokey chilies. Itís a bit overwhelming. Flavor is scones chili with a bit of rich sweetness, almost like chocolate. A bit thick with resinous hops followed by heart at the end. It comes across as muddled though, and does not completely work.

From a shared bomber. You can tell the base beer is OK, but the pepper is so overpowering and gross, it made me gag. This isnít a "spicy" beer. This is a full-on capsaicin assault on your gastrointestinal system. Glad I didnít spend any money on it.

Tried this , didnít work. Batch from 8/15, couldnít even taste the pepper. HUGE disappointment. If you want a quality pepper beer go to Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin.
