Pours a slightly hazy dark copper with an off white head and nice lacing. Aroma is sweet malt with butterscotch and some citrus. Taste is bready malt sweetness with more citrus hop flavor than expected from aroma. Has a prominent but smooth bitterness that lingers in the finish with a spiciness from the alcohol. Creamy mouthfeel and medium full bodied and medium high carbonation. A very big beer with lots of flavor.

Rich, deep copper color with about a finger of tan head. The aroma shines, I get big spice notes, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, caramel, toffee, butterscotch, some booziness and a nice jolt of hops. The taste is much like the aroma, very sweet, but well balanced with the alcohol. There is a nice citrusy hop flavor in the back end. This is a big beer, but I find it more balanced than Arrogant Bastard. I would like to try this with a couple of years of age on it.

From 22oz bottle to snifter. Pour is a deep amber, kind of hazy with a medium off white head. Nose is complex- caramel, figs, hops, malt, citrus, a bit of everything. Taste is very deep and equally complex, heavy body with touches of sweet, sour, and bitter of course. Finishes sharp, thick oily texture with little alcohol bite. What a beer, love the complexity and the drinkability here.

Hoppy floral with a light malt aroma. Darker amber in color with thick light tan head. Creamy mouth feel with an almost cherry syrup start that fades into a malty and slightly drying finish. Heavy but delicious.

Draught glass at rattle n hum. Hazy dark amber. Ridiculous lacing. Aroma of pure raisin malt, with grapefruit and citrus bitterness. Sweet sassy, I could spend hours smelling this, and just get drunk off the smell. Definite alcohol aroma, but it's only apparent after you pour the beer into a sack vented directly into your nostril. Preferably the left nostril. The taste is strong with prune and rind bitterness. Oh beer lords of lording all beers, this is glorious beyond words.

Very bold and in your face. The taste of alcohol is really present but delightful. Assertive and delicious.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma of sweeet malt, fruit, with pleasing citrus notes. Pours a clear mahogny with a white ring and no lacing. The taste is quite malty initially and then the hops begin to kick in. And, oh, do they ever kick in! There is a satisfying warmth all the way to my stomach. Noticable alcohol in the finish. Medium-full body and medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is lush and creamy. Overall, very drinkable and beautifully crafted.

12 oz. draft at Plan B in Glastonbury, CT. Deep copper amber pour with a thin off white head and minimal lacing. Aroma is caramel, piney hops, bitter orange, alcohol. Taste is very sweet, some bready earthy notes to go with he caramel. Plenty of west coast hops on the finish, with lingering sweetness and bitterness. Nice chewy mouthfeel, alcohol presence is noticeable but warming. Good big brew from Stone.

It’s the 2008 vintage on draft at the brewery in Escondido. Pours brown with no head. Not a lot of carbonation but it still has a a lot of citrus on the tongue. Hides the alcohol extraordinarily well. It’s interesting in its current state but it, I’m guessing, in no way compares to what this would be like fresh.
