3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Opaque black, thin pecan head fading quickly. Smells of plum, coffee and smoke. Tastes of dried plums, licorice, coffee. Carbonation a bit high, palate smooth and rich. Finish is bitter.

Good beer but not as good as Id hoped. Pour is black with offwhite head. Aroma is heavy coffee and rich dark malts. Taste is lacking with a bit of a watered down oaty coffee. Not too sweet but needs heavier roast and more flavor.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from bottle into tulip: Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is coffee heavy with roasted malt. Taste is lots of coffee, roasted malt, a little bitter on the back end which is pleasant. Not at all sweet. Interesting, not boozy for the alcohol content, but isn’t terribly heavy bodied for what it is. Wish it had a bit more flavor but still nice.

Very good IRS with an amazingly rich chocolate espresso flavor. I have to admit that this is even better then the original Stone IRS. Very crisp and easy to drink for such a high ABV. Excellent!!!!!

Shared at Andy’s house post Big Barrel Tararell. Red-black body. Quite an excellent coffee stout. Rich and sweet. Brown sugar, coffee, chocolate. Classic, well executed beer. Excellent. Nails it.

Very nice coffee presence. Chocolatey, velvety. A bit of like, a cinnamon spice note from the coffee. Excellent beer.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Similar to the regular Stone RIS, but heavy on the coffee up front, and bitter chocolate at the end. Very good beer, as always from Stone.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
.65 bottle from SB. Big black, savory. Pretty much what you’d expect from a Stone RIS. Sweetness and full without being cloying. Big but drinkable. The coffee isn’t really the espress-bean- like I was expecting, but more of a stale/instant- coffee thing. Milk chocolate. Excellent body. Nice.

Bottle shared with Jeevan, thanks to San Diego Steve. Jet black pour, thin tan head. Aromas all about the coffee, light roast malt in the background. Taste has more coffee and some dark chocolate and charcoal. Good body and bitterness. Very nice.
