4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Straight from the source at Stone. Drank a bottle out in the gardens. I just love heavy full flavored beers. Pitch black dark color. Coffee ice cream colored thick foam head. Heavy lacing. Lots of bitters. Heavy mouth feel, a very thick beer. The original RIS has alot of coffee notes already so the espresso might not seem so espressoeee but there is definetely plenty of coffee flavor. So many flavors pop out as you explore this beer. Plenty of beer for a beer lover.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle offered @ home, via rotbox. I’ve been pulling this out of the
cellar rotbox many a nights in the past three months and never pulled the trigger. Tonight was the night for finally executing this sumbitch. Complete black appearance with a pretty nice dark brown head. Aroma has a very sweet, roasted chocolate tint to it. Some coffee, but actually, vanilla comes through even a bit more strongly. Soft mouth feel and smooth finish. Actually kind of has a mouth feel like an Oatmeal Stout. A touch smoky, mostly roasted chocolatey flavor with maybe a touch of caramel. Super easy to drink. Again, vanilla is pretty prevalent. Oh, whoops. There’s espresso in the name? Smooth lingering espresso finish. Great beer that I would love to drink again. 4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle @ tasting, courtesy of me. Thnx to bytemesis for shipping me this beauty. Pours a pitch black beer with a quickly disappearing, small beige head on top. Aroma has massive espresso, licorice and burnt coffee. Also some faint caramel in there. Flavor has a nice bitter touch from the coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts sweetness. Very smooth drinking experience, but the espresso could be more evident in the flavor, but still one hell of an awesome beer!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Really like the original version of this beer. I find the coffee taking over a bit too much and hiding some of the nice hops. Theres also a somewhat strange and not that pleasant spiciness to it.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Awesome stuff. I still have one cellared. Bad idea. I don’t like how the coffee flavor leaves aged stouts.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Awesome. Strong roasted aroma with coffee. Very black with a thin tan head. It looks rich. Smooth, weighty and full palate. Decent carbonation but not too much. The espresso is a good compliment and doesn’t overpower the richness of an already great beer. Rich dark malts with a balanced hop bitterness. Alcohol is there but well-hidden. Remarkable.
