3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber. Pours a deep, dark, opaque brown-black, hefty espresso colored head, decent retention and lacing. Nose is (deceptively) unimpressive -- mostly just roasted barley and some malty chocolate hint of butterscotch. Mouth is a beast -- big and oily, silky bittersweet roasted barley and caramel malts up front, then chocolate, coffee, toasted pecans, brown sugar, warm and slightly bitter finish. A bit heavy for August, but Iíve got reruns from January on NHL Network on the TV so I can pretend itís snowing out too. Really nice brew.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours pitch black with a very creamy, tall, dense, tan head. Aroma has a nutty, toasted, lightly burnt malt character with a modest dose of earth, piney hops late. The rye has a light spice in the nose and the bourbon has a light/modest alcoholic addition to the brew. Flavor starts off with a good dose of toasted malt character that moves into a chocolate and bourbon sweetness with a light rye spice kick. Mild amount of hoppiness sneaks in at the tail end lending a light earthy note to compliment the nutty/toasted character of the beer and some light piney kick. Body is thick with low carbonation and a good alcohol heat to kick off the ending. Overall a very well balanced beer with a lot of distinct flavors that arenít muddled. Kinda wishing this one were produced more than a one off as I could see it becoming a seasonal go to beer in the fall/winter months. Very tasty brew as a whole.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of alcohol, roasted malt, dark chocolate and light pecan. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, pecan, dark chocolate, dark fruit and light alcohol with a smooth lingering roasty chocolate finish. A decent beer nowhere near what I was expecting.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aromas of cocoa, pecans, almonds, dried cherries, and molasses. Black with a light chocolate-milk-colored head. Dry, roasty, spicy, and a little smokey. Medium-full bodied, well carbonated, strong, pretty smooth, has a little bit of heat on it, and finishes with lingering flavors of savory nuts, dry molasses, and a touch of vanilla.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The nutty, pecan flavor comes through subtly. Bourbon hits you as it warms. A flavor bomb that't surprisingly easy drinking.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Samuel Hornes Tavern. Pours near black with a pretty tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a rich chocolate malt flavor with a powder dry finish that sticks to the palate with a warm alcohol trail.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 25, 2014 On tap at lures, pours black with low head. Aroma is roast and whiskey, taste is light bodied with a long alcohol burn, a bit too much for my tastes.
On draft at stone, 2.0. Better booze and roast balance, very nice

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black with low dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, smoke, german sausage, light oak barrel and wheat. The only thing you canít smell are the pecans. Taste is big and alcohol sweet initially before a coffee and chocolate bitter finish. Is that actually some pecans I taste there? Quite possibly so. Body is full and creamy with soft carbonation. Lingering coffee and german sausage.
