Pretty good. Pours black with a tan head. Light coffee and bourbon aroma. Taste is heavy coffee, butter, nuts, chocolate, and some bourbon background. Medium carbonation and medium body. Less carbonation would work better but overall good stuff.

22 oz. bottle at home with the wife. I ended up drinking most of the bottle though. Pours a dark cola brown to black color with a small disappearing tan head. The aroma is dark chocolate, dark fruits, nutty, light bourbon, some roast and a splash of espresso. The flavor is roasted malt, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, mild bourbon, vanilla, espresso with some warming alcohol. I think this is pretty good now, but wonder what it would do with some age. I like this regular Stone RIS with a couple years on it.

From 22oz bottle. Pours a glorious dark brown with light brown head. Mild caramel aroma. Taste is of caramel and vanilla. Very good flavor. I have two bottles that will be aged - I believe this will be even more excellent in 6 months or a year. Nice job, Mr. Crusher! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at MacGregor’s. Not quite what I was expecting. Pretty massive, very sweet, definitely needs aging, that is the overview. Hefty sweet chocolate/anise malt dominates this in every way. Licorice, vanilla, plenty of sweet notes. Very creamy, very boozy, but in an okay way. Glad I had it, but not really my thing. Kind of over the top, and again, I think it would greatly benefit from aging.

Aroma is fruitcake/fruit/raspberries, wheat, dark malts and vinous notes. The flavor is fruitcake, raspberries, dark malts, vinous notes and a very long and tart/alcoholic finish. Was expecting this to be pretty good and realize I underestimated it, wow this was awesome.

Bottle
Aroma: Alcohol, booze, prunes, dark fruit, biscuit
Appearance: Opaque black with khaki head
Taste: Toasted nuts, dark candied fruit, licorice
Palate: Warming (tongue numbing) alcohol mouthfeel, with a very smooth finish.
Overall: This is a big, complex big. Alcohol is very present, but not in an undesirable way. Dark licorice flavored malt could mellow over time making this even better.

Tap at the game in las cruces nm august 2013 Pours black pitch black with a nice tan kacki somewhat fizzy head and sparse lacing. Very leggy. Nose is sweet vanilla anise oak bourbon. Huge big chicolate and bourbon flavors massive beer here!!! Huge alcohol notes lots of char and quite a bit of vanilla sweetness. Huge char notes alongside tbe big alcohol notes. This needs some time however it woukd probabky become more sweet. For what it is its decent. Dont need to have it again.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2014 What a stupid name for a beer. Interesting flavor profile with a sort of carnival roasted pecan thing going on but also a good load of rye spiciness. The big problem is that this beer doesn’t hide its alcohol content well, the nose is really boozy (like sniffing liquor) and the taste also has that same problem. Cool enough beer to share, but my god do I regret opening this alone.
