From the most unlikely yet intensely imaginative trio that is actor and uber-geek champion Wil Wheaton, alternative news website Fark.com creator Drew Curtis and Stone CEO/Co-founder Greg Koch, comes an imperial stout unlike any ever made. Brewed with rye, wheat malt and pecans and partially aged in Bourbon whiskey barrels, this viscous yet silken brew erupts with an oaky, nutty bouquet and rich flavors of vanilla, toast and bitter chocolate. Enjoy now or cellar this celebration of nth degree passion and geekery applied most gracefully to the craft of brewing and collaboration-Drew Curtis/Wil Wheaton/Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout!

Pours basically black with a small tight head and good lacing on the glass.

The aroma is roasty & sweet with some dark chocolate notes & some woodiness that is more indicative of just some wood as opposed to the woodiness of say a bourbon barrel... right?

The flavor is big & sweet in a totally enjoyable way, plenty of chocolate and vanilla to go around; the big roasty notes and the bitter chocolate lend some balance. The woodiness is more bourbon barrel-y in the flavor and the dark fruit expression is mild but well integrated.

Pretty good.

Escondido, Ca. - Stone Garden Bistro - purchased in the gift shop. Pours a jet black with a sticky mocha colored head that clings to the edge of the glass. Excellent aroma with some vanilla accents, some light bourbon, a touch of licorice. Full bodied flavor with some licorice, a touch of bourbon - but not overdone, some marshmallows, a touch of bitter unsweetned chocolate. Mouthfeel is thick and sticky and velvety smooth.

This is a really delightful collaboration from Stone. Pours nearly black with a very small and quickly fading brown head. Nose is sweet, full of dark fruit flavors, molasses, with a very vinous quality. Flavor certainly moves forward with what we learned from the nose, though with the vinous quality taking the forefront, big rich fruits in the middle, and a touch of hoppy bitterness in the finish (which lingers damn near forever). Very strong beer, both in ABV and in its generally high quality. A fine pour!

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2013 10 oz pour from McCoy’s in Westport KC. Aroma is malts, wood, syrup, chocolate, pecans almonds vanilla. Appearance is jet black, tan head. Taste is amazing. Big bitter sweet. Texture is buttery. Alcohol is not noticeable, which for a 13 abv RIS is ridiculous. This definitely beats their regular RIS, and I’ve had few better than this beast.

66cl bottle courtesy of thirstybird @ RBBSG II.

Draught for Stone event at Breukelen Bier Merchants. Pours almost black with deep tan fully lasting creamy head. Aroma is fairly light sweet and chocolatey. Flavor is huge dark roast charcoal and very bitter chocolate. Feel is super full thick and lively. Really awesome stout.

Bottle shared at Jack’s Farewell Tasting, big thanks to the man himself, 06/08/13. Mid black with a thin tan head. Nose is roast malt, bitter cocoa, marzipan, light booze, dark malts. Taste comprises roasty malts, bitter chocolate, earthy, leather, dark berry fruits, touch of booze. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light alcoholic burn in the finale with a dry roasty finish. Solid enough but not a heavy hitter in this venerable style for me.

A cool brew. Thanks Vinnie. Nose is chocolate, light roast, lots of rye, some vanilla, tons of earthy walnut/pecan notes. A lot going on there. Flavor is bold with all of the mentioned flavors but more rye and pecan. I’m not a fan of nut beers (nut browns, etc.) but this was nice. My only complaint is that there was possible too much going on. That big abv went unnoticed though.

Pine Box, Brooklyn tap: Pours black with a brownish head (I didn’t really get to see it on mine because it was filled to the brim). Aroma is a dozen things all mixed up with one another: bourbon, chocolate, rye, coffee, and nuts, and more stuff. Taste is sweet, burned, whiskey with rye bread and chocolate. Perhaps there be too much stuff going on. This was a little underwhelming following the biscotti break that I had an hour previous.
