From the most unlikely yet intensely imaginative trio that is actor and uber-geek champion Wil Wheaton, alternative news website Fark.com creator Drew Curtis and Stone CEO/Co-founder Greg Koch, comes an imperial stout unlike any ever made. Brewed with rye, wheat malt and pecans and partially aged in Bourbon whiskey barrels, this viscous yet silken brew erupts with an oaky, nutty bouquet and rich flavors of vanilla, toast and bitter chocolate. Enjoy now or cellar this celebration of nth degree passion and geekery applied most gracefully to the craft of brewing and collaboration-Drew Curtis/Wil Wheaton/Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout!

Price is right on this one. Very solid offering at a hell of a price point. And a 13%er to boot. Pours thick black with a thin khaki head that rides out with the quickness. Smell is big roast, chocolate, hint of booze, caramel, nutty, vanilla, some tangy coffee. Taste was more roast, but a smooth, marshmellow, vanilla, the bourbon was subtle and nice, chocolate, bits of rye spice, and in the end you can pick up a bit of the nutty/pecan flavor. Overall, the flavors played quite nicely with one another, but the beer felt a bit held back. I mean I donít want to taste the booze perse, but for 13% it was quite tame. Not a bad thing, but if there was just a touch more pop this could have been on the fantastic level.

Bottle from Hollingshead in Orange, CA. Pours a deep black color with a nice, thick tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some hints of cherries and dark chocolate. Complex taste with bourbon, berries, and chocolate. Alcohol is masked but I have the sense it has some legs. Very good brew.

650 ml bottle. Pours an opaque black color with a small tan head that soon fades to fine film. The aroma is big and bold with dark chocolates, vanilla, some burnt toast and a trace of licorice. The taste is similar to the nose, lots of roasty-toasty flavors, a bit too much vanilla, chocolates, nuts, anise and spicy breads. The palate is full and viscous with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering bitter burnt toast. Overall: Decent brew, paired exceptionally well with a Cabot Vermont cheddar cheese.

Seriously people?! get your heads screwed on straight! Because itís Stone and itís new, itís all the rage. Personally, I love imperial stout. That being said, this beer is: Hot, thin, and not nearly as complex as it should be for 13%. Stone is just worried about getting stuff to market now, and not about quality. Boo on them. A real craft brewery would have let this age for at least a year longer.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2013 Bitter first, and it gets amazing over warmth. It seems like a confounding stout at 50 degrees, but as it continues to warm, it becomes more and more enjoyable. The roasted pecans are the issue - in the beginning, they bring too much roastiness, but after time, you become acclimated and enjoy. Bottom line, I?d would happily drink this again.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2013 Dark pour with roughly and inch of foam. Smooth but heavy bourbon upfront. Mocha chocolate in the middle. Extremely light and sweet bourbon finish. Great imperial stout.

Big. Boozy. Beautiful. Draft at Flying Saucer in KC after work & reading an article in The Pitch about long-overdue micro brewery explosion in, yes, KC. Smacked me in the mouth upon first sip. Then I reveled in its smooth bourbon-y splendor. Like a summer angel of death spitting fire.

Pours super deep black and oily rich with a short lived creamy tan head. You really know that you have a taste explosion in your hands just from the appearance. The aroma is slight, mostly alcohol, oak, and roasted grain. This beer seems to be at itís prime if it warms up a bit after serving. It is very sweet and bitter at once, with a distinctive nutty quality and rich chocolate and caramel. The 13% is well hidden among the aggressive flavors. Full bodied to the max, syrupy, oily texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. It reminds me of port in a way, very nice. Drink with caution.

22. Thanks so much annie! Pours jet black with a dense and creamy dark tan head. Big roasty sweet peppery rye on the nose, plus wood and apricots and chocolate. Sticky thick body. Peppery rye, chocolate, oak, apricotty bourbon, and smoke on the mid palate. Wonderfully complex and rewarding.
