Tasted on 10/1/13 from a 650mL bomber bottle purchased at Main Street Liquors in Nashville. Pours a completely opaque, nearly black with an average, but very dense tan brown head that leaves fairly thick lace. The nose is very dark and roasted, dominated by molasses, coffee, and burnt brown sugar, with caramel, toffee, a nutty aroma, and creamy vanilla all underlying. The flavor is the same, super creamy coffee, caramel, toffee, and vanilla up front, with all of the burnt molasses, brown sugar, and nutty note all on the back of the palate. The body is massively full with lighter, but still stinging carbonation, and a super long vanilla, toffee, creamy coffee, molasses, and burnt brown sugar finish. It is worth noting that throughout, this beer is extremely dry, with almost no sweetness whatsoever.

Bottle to glass. About a year old. Pours a deep brown to black color with a creamy light brown head. Aroma is roasted malts with a light nutty toastiness, somewhat burnt bitter. Flavor brings out a bit more of the burnt roasted nutty malts. No noticeable bourbon quality, but could be that its aged a bit too long. Roast nutty slight burnt malts in the finish. I liked it, but it was probably too late in the night after a solid tasting.

Draft at Liberty Station. Pours very dark brown with a thick, creamy bubbly tan head. Tastes like sweet syrup, woody, chocolate, boozy, light ash. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like booze, woody, sweet chocolate syrup, and lightly burnt malt.

On tap at MacGregor’s Stone tap take over night. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Rich sticky fruit cake aroma with caramel. Full body, light carbonation. Lots of sweet candy licorice, booze, light chocolate, light coffee. Sweet and the alcohol was well hidden but felt.

Sample at the Aces & Ales Winter Beer Fest on 01/16/2015. The beer pours brownish-black with a medium thin beige head that recedes steadily to a dense film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with flavors of smoked malt, roasted nuts, bittersweet chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a charred malt aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.

Boozy chocolatey aroma. Deep brown-black color w tan head. Nice amount of bourbon booze character up front followed by a pronounced chocolatey finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Incredible. Toasty aroma of bourbon, wood, and toasted marshmallow. Thick and black, thin brown head, and a massive flavour of toffee, nuts, chocolate, and bloody good stout. Sweet with just a touch of bitterness lurking behind it. A slow sipper that I wish I had a case of.

Nose is bourbon, pecan, brownie. Flavor is like a bourbon-chocolate pecan pie. Heat is a tad too present and harsh.
