Brewed with rye, wheat malt and pecans and partially aged in Bourbon whiskey barrels, this viscous yet silken brew erupts with an oaky, nutty bouquet and rich flavors of vanilla, toast and bitter chocolate. On tap at Taco Mac. Pours deep walnut with mocha head which dissipated fairly quickly. There is little lacing. Malty Roma with the sweetness of bourbon (but actually fairly subtle) along with oak and cherries. Taste is sweet with the bourbon flavor more pronounced than in the aroma, yet not overwhelming. Oak and dark fruit permeate as well. Full bodied with an oily, slick mouthfeel and low carbo. Overall, really nice beer - bourbon barrel aged, but the bourbon only plays a supporting role here - although becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. Abv of 13 percent is well hidden, but warms you up!

A great stout. Not a big fan of the stouts I think, but this is my favorite. There is a caramel taste with a bite at the end.

Pours a jet black with a thin tan head. Aroma is bourbon, booze, nut, and vanilla. Flavor is oak, sweet vanilla, and nut. Has a huge body with some bitterness and lots of alcohol heat as it goes down the throat. Very good.

Bottle 22oz $10 2015 drank fresh): Black with tan head that disappeared quickly. Aroma sweet roasted malts with some bourbon. Taste some chocolate. Kind of syrupy. light carbonation full body. Not sure where the pecans come in. Some alcohol burn in the end. Good

22 ounce bottle purchased at Nugget in Woodland, CA. Aroma is fairly straight forward with some cocoa powder, light roastiness, and a little bit of anise. Opaque black body with a medium to large light brown foamy head. Starts with a sweet, sugary, chocolate flavoring. Becomes fairly metallic in the middle with a lot of tinny character. Finishes with a bit of an ethanol burn. Kind of sticky, almost as if there is a little diacetyl here, too. I suppose that could be the pecans creating that flavor, however. Regardless, this is decent.

650 ml. bottled 06/27/15. Pours deep brown-black with a smattering of bubbles. Nose is chocolate, soy and touches of char, citrus and green herb. Tastes of the same. None too complex for such a big beer, but hides the 13% very well. Medium-heavy body is well balanced and has medium-high carbonation.

2015 bottle WootStout.. Picked up at the Boise COOP... Pours standard black with a very thin dark brown head... absolutely no lacing or cap. Boozy mash-up of bourbon, light roast malts for a RIS, interesting nutty and dry toffee component.. toasted marshmallow.. bittersweet chocolate with warmth and something that I associate with cinnamon. There are soooo many different flavors/adjuncts that are in this fresh.. It actually works even given the heavy ABV... Will it work better with age? I have no idea... but I am amazed how well it drinks fresh.
