4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
One of my all time favorite beers Stone has done! Had this one out of my growler after sitting for about 5 days so it had very low carbonation. Perfection... pours as black as your ex girlfriend?s heart with a quickly dissipating brown head. First smell is of rye with a hint of bourbon and a very small amount of pecan. Taste wise at this point of maturation is a very smooth chocolate flavor with the sweetness of pecan and a little bit of bourbon on the back end. If you are fortunate to find this beer anywhere at this point, drink it! Although with caution because this beer packs a deceptive punch at 13% abv.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pretty damn good. Smooth, not overbearing with the usual tar or licorice. Can taste slight grains and brown sugar.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a very dark chocolate brown color thatís completely opaque with a two finger mocha head that very slowly fades into a thick, lasting ring. Nice retention for the style and ABV with streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Boozy, slightly acrid aroma with subtle oak, burnt sugars and deeply roasted dark malt notes. Takes a while to open up but once it does thereís a slight toothpick/dry oak character along with hints of burnt toast, bitter dark chocolate, espresso bean and a faint hint of bourbon sweetness. Somewhat bland and one dimensional being mostly boozy(not much bourbon character though) with burnt malt.
Medium body but lighter than expected with slight viscosity and a strong acrid/burnt malt flavor that lingers over the cocoa and oak barrel into a dry finish. Very bitter and toasty with strong ash, burnt coffee bean and extremely bitter dark chocolate. Not picking up any wheat flavor at all but there is some dry tooth pick/oak and a prominent spicy bourbon. More heat than flavor from the bourbon but thatís somewhat expected given the small percentage of the blend. Some resinous bitter hops underneath but this beer is just too dry, acrid and burnt for many of the other flavors to stand out . Bourbon flavor isnít complex or interesting. Lacking in spicy bourbon sweetness and just tastes like strong ethanol. In addition, this beer is in desperate need of some balance to cancel out the char, burnt malt and stinging alcohol. Not very good at this stage. Will possibly improve with time as it mellows out.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
I have a feeling my rating stands alone at the low point. I just know Stone normally brews a better stout than what this is. I get a strong fruit taste at the start I see nobody else talking about. Itís not horrible but yet still not up to the standard Iíve come to enjoy with Stone. No where near as thick. Pours nice and looks good in the glass then fizzles.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rated on 10-03-2015 at 800 Degrees Three Fires, Fort Wayne, IN. The appearance of this draft beer is a small light brown head with a short retention, opaque black dark brown body and no lacing. The aroma is chocolate, malt and a bit boozy. The flavor of this beer mimics the aroma. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This is a very good tasting imperial stout that is worth trying and a beer I would definitely partake in again.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 650ml. A dark beer with a red hue and a small brown head that fades away quickly. Aroma is of dark chocolate, black coffee, nuts and alcohol. Taste is bittersweet with a strong alcoholic finish. Some carbonation and astringency. Medium bodied and oily. Strong aftertaste of chocolate, spices and roasted coffee. Delicious.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a clean head with very little lacing. This is best when warmed up. Tastes of dark fig, fant vanilla, and a small bit of roasted pecan. Itís a large and muddy beer. Definatly a sipping beer. Very tasty and at a fantastic price point.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is one the best stout I have ever had especially for the price it can be found at. Notes of carmel, chocolate, wheat, pecan, and light toast appear throughout. Almost good enough to draw a tear from my eye.
