From the most unlikely yet intensely imaginative trio that is actor and uber-geek champion Wil Wheaton, alternative news website Fark.com creator Drew Curtis and Stone CEO/Co-founder Greg Koch, comes an imperial stout unlike any ever made. Brewed with rye, wheat malt and pecans and partially aged in Bourbon whiskey barrels, this viscous yet silken brew erupts with an oaky, nutty bouquet and rich flavors of vanilla, toast and bitter chocolate. Enjoy now or cellar this celebration of nth degree passion and geekery applied most gracefully to the craft of brewing and collaboration-Drew Curtis/Wil Wheaton/Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout!

UPDATED: APR 18, 2014 What a stupid name for a beer. Interesting flavor profile with a sort of carnival roasted pecan thing going on but also a good load of rye spiciness. The big problem is that this beer doesn’t hide its alcohol content well, the nose is really boozy (like sniffing liquor) and the taste also has that same problem. Cool enough beer to share, but my god do I regret opening this alone.

This is one the best stout I have ever had especially for the price it can be found at. Notes of carmel, chocolate, wheat, pecan, and light toast appear throughout. Almost good enough to draw a tear from my eye.

Where: Old Line Fine Wine Spirits & Bistro. How: 20 ounce bottle. Appearance: Pours black, thin tan head. Aroma: Heavy on dark fruit and alcohol, more than expected. Taste: Cocoa, sweetness, booze and then fruit and berries. Palate: Thin on feel and slightly carbonated. Overall: A very good beer but not beyond amazing. 3.8 is about right.

On tap. Pours deep black with persistent thin beige head. Amazing aroma of cocoa, coconut, caramel. Taste is sweet chocolate, nuts and a light bitterness. Medium-full body, light carbonation. Alcohol warms but well inserted. Amazing brew.

This draft brew from a restaurant poured a extremely small sized head of foamy brown colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark black brown colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was dark malt. The mildly vinous crisp mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong roasted malt aftertaste. The yummy flavor contained notes of semi-sweet roasted malt mildly vinous toasted malt brown malt dark malt and hops. A wonderful best in class brew.

Tap at Happy Gnome because how often are you going to find this one in Mpls? Dark brown to black in color with a tannish head. Healthy half finger. Aroma is really nice...sweet caramel and chocolate. Maybe a hint of bourbon. Really does an effective job of readying the drinker for the consumption to come. Taste brings the alcohol punch to the table...definitely not shy. It?s got a good dark raisin quality with chocolate and subtle coffee characteristics. Nice sugaring mouthfeel ending with a bourbon like alcohol warmth. Little bit syrupy. This is not for the faint of heart but a very interesting beer. Rich and powerful. W00t W00t!!

Comes out of tap warm coffee-sable with a thick chocolate-milk head. Aroma has notes of bourbon, wood, coffee, molasses, well-roasted malt and semi-sweet chocolate. Bold flavor has bourbon for the headliner and co-stars chocolate, roast malt, coffee, molasses and wood. It is rather sweet but not cloying. Viscous texture has plenty of fizz and leaves a sweet finish with bourbon, chocolate and roast malt in attendance. Another perfecta!
