3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2013 What a stupid name for a beer. Interesting flavor profile with a sort of carnival roasted pecan thing going on but also a good load of rye spiciness. The big problem is that this beer doesn’t hide its alcohol content well, the nose is really boozy (like sniffing liquor) and the taste also has that same problem. Cool enough beer to share, but my god do I regret opening this alone.

Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Jet black pour, thin tan head. Aromas of sherry and wood and booze. Then more sugary notes as it warms up. Fainty nutty, and overall very much like a Pedro Ximinez sherry. And there’s nowt wrong with that.

One of best beers I’ve had in a long time. Full bodies and very dark brown. Sweet aroma with a hint of bourbon. Chocolate malty taste with a hint of bourbon as well.

Black pour with a thin layer of khaki head ... aroma of bourbon, caramel malts and some roasted malts .... taste is of dry oak, caramel malts, lightly roasted malts, light bourbon/vanilla, chocolate and some bitter hop bite with definite sweet pecan and slight sugar ... .bitter dry finish .... definitely a complex brew with a bitter dry finish ... not detecting any rye sadly , but its def a little boozy and warming abv in the finish

Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Dark with a nice thick chocolaty head. Nice aroma of caramelised sugar, dark malts and barrel agedness - possibly sherry, wine or whiskey rolled up together. This is indeed boozey and seriously tasty. There is a also significant sweetness to it but it’s in harmony with the other qualities. Very nice.

Draft. Smoky and sweet. Full of grain. Like teriyaki, sweet and salty. Moderate bitterness. Completely awesome.

At my place on Swedish Christmas. Pours black medium lacing that is creamy gray. Aroma is marshmallow roasted malt, very nice. Bout on, just delicious. Taste is roasted malt, slightly harsh, a little sticky or syrupy. Smells much better than fast..

black pour with a tan head. Aroma of nuts, grapes, chocolate, and bourbon/vanilla. Sweet, but oddly getting a touch tart. Boozy finish, lots of carbonation, slightly metallic. Should have opened this one up sooner, seems to have gone south in the rot box.
