COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Itís no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but weíll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as thatís what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, weíve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Very fresh, clean, refreshing, citrusy aroma. Itís golden color, perfectly clear, with nice head and lacing. In taste itís completely dry. There is no sweetness in it at all. Itís highly drinkable, very refreshing. It has nice bitter line, with some fruity notes in the end. Itís definitely great example of session IPA.

Pours a light copper with little to no head. Aroma is peach and fried onions, which isnít exactly off-putting but isnít enticing either. Thereís actually a hint of crispy onions in the flavour too, which is bizarre, and a lot of malt as Iíve come to expect from Stone beers. Probably wouldnít try this again if Iím being honest.

Bottle. Clear pale yellow, almost like a lager and stable, big, white head. Aroma of peach, pineapple, pine, very low onion (probably Mosaic), only hops. In taste low sweet, very dry and packed with hoppy flavours of pine, citrus, grapefruit. Strong and short bitterness, fizzy carbonation. Fantastic.

"I had avoided this one for awhile because, well session ipaís just really dosent sound right. I found a single so i tried it and.. Pours a perfectly clear light golden color with a one finger creamy white head. Big hops aroma with pineapple, honey, grapefruit, citrus peel, grass. Flavor is light malts stuck behind bright grassy hops with notes of citrus peel and pineapple throughout. Medium bitter. Light bodied with plenty of carbonation, finishing slightly dry. Probably the best of the session IPAs.

Golden color with a fine thick white head. Lovely lacing. Smooth nice grapefruit hoppy and tropical aroma. Medium body and an ok carbonation. Nice balance. Fresh tasty grapefruit hoppy, pine and tropical flavor. Lovely refreshing and tasty ale.

12 0z. bottle into a pint glass best by 09/06/2015 A: Cold gentle pour yields almost no head leaving a bubbly collar and leggy lace. Very clear brassy color with big lazy bubbles rising. S: Soft citrus and pine scent. Almost chemical nose but very balanced including a bit of cracker malt. T: Bitter and mostly piney with the citrus pith remaining in the background. Malt shows up briefly but is mostly overwhelmed by pine. Not bad. M: Crisp and medium bodied with a good amount of bubbles. O: Pretty average SIPA in my opinion. Not bad but way too expensive to buy regularly at $11/6 with no outstanding characteristics. Others are better.

glennmastrange (2431) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JUL 8, 2015
Bottle. Moderate light bread and roasted for the malt, moderate to heavy pine for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with faint dried fruit. Head is small, frothy, white with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy light yellow amber. Flavor starts lightly to moderately acidic, then the long finish is moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. Nicer smelling and better balanced in flavor than most Session IPAs.

Pint at Globe. Pours light gold with a white head. Hoppy, tropical fruit aroma with some pine tar. Flavor is overly bitter, but not crazy. Some citrus and pine notes, nothing crazy. Thin almost fleeting mouthfeel on this one. Bitterness is up front harsh but doesnít linger.
