COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but we’ll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

My Bottom Line:
This refined Pale Ale showcases grapefruit and flowers in a bright and engaging profile which doesn’t forget about sharing cracking cereals to support it all.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the shiny golden.
-The mouthfeel is silky and conducive to huge gulps.
-The hop character doesn’t get overwhelming at any time.
-This is as well done as their bigger IPAs.... so I don’t see myself drinking the 7%+ stuff when I can have it all at 4%.

On tap at Stone Liberty Station.

Keg, Brewdog Leicester. Hazy golden with a thin head. Aromas are sudsy, floral pine with clean grapefruit. Some pineapple with grassiness. Flavours are sweet mango and pineapple with grapefruit bitterness and resinous pine. Mineral body with juicy oranges and lemons. Pithy to finish. Good.

Kind of nice. Bottle to pint glass. On the soft side for stone, but that’s a good thing. Aroma is a bit weak and the only thing I really get is some yeast. Taste is almost buttery. Lemon. Some grass and veggie, but slight. Would be nice with some steamed oysters or clams. Mmmmmm. Pleasant.

355ml bottle, pours clear bright gold with a one inch white head. Aroma is light malty, very hoppy with piney notes, citrus, orange and lime, peppery spiciness, malts are light caramel. Body is light, texture is creamy and oily. Carbonation is soft. Finish is balanced well and ends moderate bitter.

Bottle from brewdog bar, Sheffield. Slightly Hazy orange with small white head. Aroma is grassy and fruity with grapefruit. Taste is a bit too bitter for the depth of flavour, needs more sweetness to offset. Body is good, medium with a slight prickle. I prefer a good session ipa, to a session ipa trying to be a dipa, but this is good in some respects.

bottled, golden color, piney aroma, flavor has a touch too much bitterness and lemon, i didnt like this one as much as their other new offerings.

The hop aromas just explode out of this bottle as soon as the cap is popped. Rich, bright citrus and grassy notes. Lots of tropical fruit, lemon, pine and a bit of orange and lime. There’s an incredibly bright fruitiness in this beer. Bitterness is firm but balanced. Awesome brew. Juicy and fresh.
