It’s no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but we’ll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Draft. Clear gold pour, thin head. Nose is citrus, fruit, floral. Flavor is biscuit malt and some citrus. Finishes bitter. Not my cup of tea.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy, golden color with a thin, bubbly head. Light, citrus aroma with some hops in the background. Grassy notes as well. Dry, hoppy flavor with a light grapefruit/tart finish. Decent balance and very light. Nice brew.

From bottle. Poured a light shade with loads of good hop aroma. Drank with plenty of hop flavor and very easy. Finished all too soon. A great session IPA

355ml bottle. Golden with a foamy white head. Nose and tongue of pine needles with a grapefruity citrus notes and a cereal malt baseline. Finishes with decent resinous dry hop bitterness. Does what it says on the box.

- Nose: punches well above its ABV in terms of tropical, floral hop: citrus-y (satsuma + grapefruit; a little pineapple too); a little pine. Also has that dusty cereal smell a beer might have if it contained wheat (which it might, judging also by big-time froth upon pouring/bubble count!). - Body: thin; orange pith. - Finish: short finish; OK bitter fade which treads a fine line between tropical fruit and soap. - Delightfully light; tropical floral hops punch well above its ABV. Satsuma juice with nice amount of attitude (+ a wheat-y tinge) #StoneMe2

A 12 fl oz bottle with a bottled date of 20th July 2015 and an enjoy by date of 18th October 2015. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It poured a clear golden orange colour with a one finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly but left a lot of spotty lacing. There was a very nice blend of tropical fruit, citrus and pine aromas. Strong mango, peach and apricot along with some light grapefruit and orange zest and hints of pine. Only a very light breadiness in the background. Like the aroma, taste is tropical and citrus fruits. Mango and apricot to begin with followed by some orange and finishing with grapefruit bitterness which is lasting. Medium bodied with mid to high carbonation. Overall a very nice IPA from Stone. The aromas are stunning and it is very easy to drink.

Half pint draught at Roundhouse before the dog park. Smells very nice, lots of bright orange and citrus, pith bitterness. Taste is resinous hop, pith, more one-note than the aroma but bitter and drinkable. Very enjoyable.

On tap at Brewdog Södermalm. A bit hazy golden with a white head. Fresh and hoppy with fruit, grapefruit and some hay. Soft and easy to drink with a medium bitter finish.

on tap at the stone tap takeover at kater murr in nuremberg. pale golden, quite clear with a thin but lasting head; aroma of grapefruit zest and pine; quick, plenty of zesty bitterness; nothing showy about it but does the job
