COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but we’ll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Bottle from DeLaurenti, Seattle
Hazy pale blond color. It has an impressive hop aroma: piney, hempy, musky and citrusy. Dry and lean mouthfeel, the malt flavor is light but present, strong bitterness with a resiny and citrusy character.
Definitively a go-to sIPA.

On tap at the Yard House, Houston. It pours a clear golden body and a minimal sized white head. The aroma is on the hoppy side, with lots of pine cones and a solid shot of peaches. Some grass and pale malts. There’s a nice bitterness in the mouth, with the same piney and lightly peachy touch. It’s dry and more or less full bodied and with a nice carbonation. Lasting bitter and fruity finish. A quenching and tasteful session IPA. Just like they should be. 140513

Bottle at home in Salisbury - picked up at De Cicco, Armonk. Pours crystal clear yellow-gold with a nice, frothy white head. God damn, this beer smells outrageously good. Just bursting with fresh, juicy citrus and dank piss. Light sweet flavor with minimal bitterness and a hop character that absolutely sings. Lots of pithy, clean grapefruit, some cat pee, just enough pale malt sugars to support the hops. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Super clean and fresh to finish, lightly crisp, with hints of oily resins, more pithy grapefruit, mild lemon amd tangerine, pee, some vague pine needles. Stunning. I could drink a lot of this beer.

12oz bottle. Clear light amber body with small white head. Aroma is medium sweet, pine, some grapefruit, light lemon. Taste is medium sweet, pine/grapefruit, light lemon. Light body, light acidity. Quite drinkable (I should know, given how many of them I drank this past weekend).

Bottle @ home. Clear golden pour with a white head. Big floral hops, slight soap, and lots of orange peel. Slight grass, plenty of pine, and a touch of toasted bread. Flavor has some popcorn and toasted. Fairly bitter taste. Pine and resinous hops are dominant with some floral hops. Mild grass. Nice bitter orange peel. A touch too bitter, but otherwise quite nice.
