COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but we’ll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2014 Bottle: Bright gold with slight amber-orange tints, great clarity & topped with a chunky white head that sinks to a foamy collar leaving sticky lacing behind. Aroma is surprisingly powerful & very nice! Lots of dripping wet, pungent grapefruit-y & citric notes, wet hops, pine, mild dankness, grass, & some gushing passion fruit. Taste is a touch watery, but still has plenty of flavor... Grass, citrus flesh, mild green onion, cracker malts, pine, a hint of bitterness, a touch of tropical fruit, leading to a relatively dry finish. Crisp mouth feel, very light. I was quite surprised by this, but I shouldn’t be, as Stone usually makes solid hoppy beers. Very tasty session IPA... the only thing keeping this from actually being a "go-to" for me is the price.

Very refreshing and drinkable. Lacking the bite of a great IPA, but those are not as drinkable.

Pours a clear pale yellow with a medium white head. Aroma has mild notes of peach and mango. Flavor has more grapefruit, spice and citrus rind. Mouthfeel is light / medium and silky with a dry rindy/grassy bitter finish. Tasty but I wish the flavor followed the aroma more.

Sampled at Great Canadian Beer Festival. Pine and tangerine, some florals, lightly toasted malt. O.k. balance, medium-bodied, mildly bitter. Tasty if undistinguished IPA.

Ótima ipa para começar. Frutada e com gosto sem todo o amargor do lúpulo. Fresca e suave. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a mildly-hazed straw into the glass, with a wispy head that leaves webbed lacing. The nose is of huge pine notes. Flavors contain lemony citrus, grapefruit, bold bitter hops and a great lingering peppering pine finish. All of the attributes of a much larger IPA in a session brew. The body is indeed a bit lighter than traditional American IPA’s, but allows a super complex palate that goes down super well in the heat. A complex thirst quenching IPA with lots of flavor??? Say it isn’t so! Well... it is! Super!

Bottle. Not bad for an IPA. Amber in color. Aroma has the traditional citrus, spruce aroma. Taste is grapefruit and a touch of cedar.

Floral and pine notes with some sweet on the nose. Nice balance of bitterness and malts. Nice finish. Very solid session. Not as good as All Day but definitely a good beer.

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Hazy medium golden amber with a 1" frothy white head, bubbly bands of lace. Aroma of pine and malt. Taste is malt that can’t hold on against moderate pine hops. The bittering pushes right on through a lingering finish. Lots of taste for 4.5%, especially good with food.

From 12 oz bottle in tulip glass. Pours a clear yellow with a thin head. Nose is full of floral hops with lots of tropical fruits. Some celery and freshly mown grass notes too. Same flavours in the mouth. Very floral. It has a weird, but pleasant, veggie character. There is a good amount of pine bitterness. The body is rather light with its 4.5% ABV. Probably one of the hoppiest beers I had below 5% ABV. Good beer!
