COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Itís no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but weíll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as thatís what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, weíve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Bright yellow color with a full white head - looks like a good German Pilsner. The nose turns that perception on its ear, as it is a wonderland of grapefruit, pine and resin aromas. The flavor is a bit more subdued, with strong echoes of the flavors listed above. A nice crisp mouthfeel, with a very dry finish. The only thing missing is the alcohol - otherwise, a perfect west coast IPA. Perfect for day drinking - on an aside, my pilsner-loving, craft-hating wife thought this was really good - high praise... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£2.60):
Iíve no complaints about this beer at all, itís definitely one of the better session IPAís Iíve tried and is quite possibly the best given that it pretty much tastes like a good, traditional American IPA albeit with a lower alcohol content. It has plenty of bitterness and hops, a solid malt base and an excellent balance; whatís not to like?

Keg at Brewdog Brum ages ago. This one definitely left a strong impression on me. Dat were on account of it so freshness. Well fresh. Freee-eeesh. Super crisp and juicy.

Bottle. Given that this is sold as a session IPA it is not too bad. Decent taste at a lower ABV.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow with thin white head. Big grapefruit flavor with a little bit of citrus, and a dry hop finish. Pretty enjoyable.

Keg at Brewdog Camden. Light golden orange coloured pour with a thin white head. Aroma is nice dank citrus, floral notes. Light chive, spring onion on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of crisp base grain, highish carbonation, earthy slightly dank citrus on the flavour as well. Palate is semi crisp with a dry finish. Uber drinkable. Very tasty for the abv. Suburb beer.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Clear golden body with a medium white head. Steady carbonation. Nice lacing. Lovely aroma of mango, botanical hints, peanuts and pineapple jelly. Flavour of pine, mint and grapefruit. Thin body with an oily texture. Fizzy. A 4.5% ABV hop bomb. Reminds me of BrewDogís Dead Pony Club.

Letís see how the arrogant ones deliver a sesh IPA. Itís got a nifty pour, a clear yellow body with a creamy head. The aroma is zest, pip, and grapefruit... mayhaps with a touch of the litter box. The malt appears in the flavor as watery grain. The hops come across as in the nose, a bit more catty, and the bitterness level is moderate, although it does linger for quite a while. Dry finish. Itís okay.

[6536-20140718] Bottle. Super orange mango pine aroma. Hazy, light brown orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Bitter light buttery pine resin and hoppy orange pith flavour. Medium body is quite bitter. Delicious and sessionable. (9/4/9/4/17) 4.3

Bottle: Poured a bright yellowish color ale with a medium size white head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus notes is really enticing with nice floral undertones. Taste is also dominated by nice citrus and grapefruit notes with some floral undertones and limited bitterness. There is some small dose of residual sugar notes that are noticeable with some non-descript malt notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Nice to see that you can get this nice hops profile without having too much alcohol.

Poured from bottle into pint glass. Light piss color with low to moderate head. Just a beautiful aroma on this. Really psyched me up for the beer. Flavor was a bit of a letdown however. The hops are there, but since this is a much lighter beer, they don't really have anything else to interact with. A bit one note and thin, but certainly a decent beer and one of the better session IPAs I've had. I just wish it could have lived up to aroma.
