COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Itís no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but weíll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as thatís what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, weíve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Bright yellow color with a full white head - looks like a good German Pilsner. The nose turns that perception on its ear, as it is a wonderland of grapefruit, pine and resin aromas. The flavor is a bit more subdued, with strong echoes of the flavors listed above. A nice crisp mouthfeel, with a very dry finish. The only thing missing is the alcohol - otherwise, a perfect west coast IPA. Perfect for day drinking - on an aside, my pilsner-loving, craft-hating wife thought this was really good - high praise... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pale golden color, very clear. Not much of a head after the pour, and barely a pencil thin ring of foam after a minute. Looks a bit lacking on carbonation, but the smell is definitely enticing. It has a big citrus hop nose as advertised, with fruity taffy notes and a floral tinge. The taste has the same citrus hop burst, and it really doesnít have much malt balance. It is clean, a bit watery, and where you expect that malt flavor to be, it is like it disappeared. The finish is nicely bitter, but still feels like it lacks something. The carbonation is actually fine on this beer, despite the initial appearance. Clean, light bodied. Stone definitely succeeded in what they set out to do here: a low ABV yet west coast hop intensified beer. I love the idea of a session IPA, though itís hard to say if I love the finished product. Itís very good, donít get me wrong, but just like some IPAís can get too strong on malt, this one borders on being too light. That being said, I am still going to drink more of this, and hopefully it grows on me more.

Served on tap. Orange color with a white head. Citrus hop aroma. Clean medium body. Hops, malt, and citrus are what are involved in this beer. Balanced but nothing special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Brewdog Birmingham. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is resin nettle hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a crisp, yeast, grapefruit citrus hop bitter, light spice palate. Light bodied with average carbonation.

Golden with a white head - Grapefruit and citrus hop aroma - Some malt in the body, but the most dominant flavour is the grapefruit - Finish is all grapefruit that goes on for a long time and is very dry - This was nice

Light, not too malty, and fairly refreshing. Jumping on the session IPA bandwagon with many other brewers. Personally I like the trend - donít need to be knocked over to taste a good beer. Some pine and citrus from the hops - nothing too distinctive - with a lingering bitterness. Good for summer.

Pours golden orange with one finger white head. Smell is strong. Floral. Pine. Taste begins small with malt but is filled with hops. Pine. Grapefruit. Very good. Strong IPA. Light to medium light body. Reg carbonation. Good enough for a second. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
