COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but we’ll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Pours pale yellow with a fading off white head. Immediate aroma of soft pine. Immediate smash of pine that softens but lingers long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

May 22, 2015. 12 oz. bottle. How does a brewer pack so much body, flavor & hop-flora -- fully reminiscent of heavyweight IPAs -- into a 4.5 ABV brew? This "session IPA" is a masterpiece.

Bottle in post from brewdog. A lot of flavour, Pineapply, sweet and sour. Perhaps too intense for a session. Very good .

Keg @ Bundobust, Leeds. Pale amber with not much of a head. Tropical fruit hopped in both aroma and taste with a slight sour bitterness to it.

Draft at Braufest Berlin 2015. Pours hazy orange golden with a white head. Aroma of dank fruity hops, light sweaty hops, citrus and peach. Flavour is light sweet and moderate bitter. Light to light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Draft sample @ Berlin Braufest 2015.

Slightly hazy orange pour, with little foam. Has got much of the classic stone hop flavour, and a fantastically bitter finish for a session ipa. Great stuff.

Bottle - pours gold with a slight haze and a voluminous white head. Aroma is citrusy but this becomes really piney after a swirl of the glass, this also bring out a slight Carmel malt hint. The taste is hoppy bitter and dry. The aftertaste reminds me a bit on a lemon lozenge in that it’s dry but also citrusy. Palate is light but lingering.

Pours a hazy, pale amber colour with a thick, bubbly white head. The aroma is of resin and the flavour of malt with a moderate bitterness that is long-lasting on the palate which may be due to an apparent complex hop profile. A good quality beer, but realistically too dear.

Bottle at tasting. Golden pour. Aroma of citrus and passion fruit. Taste is very hoppy, with citrus and passion fruit, dry finish. Session IPA that’s still tasty and not watered down like too often.
