COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but we’ll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Had this one a couple of times but finally getting around to reviewing one of the last bottles left in my fridge... Picked this up at the COOP a couple weeks ago.. Pours a crystal clear golden with a short lived white head. Nose is huge hop-forward tropical fruits with plenty of pithy citrus zest for so little malt backbone.. almost too much, but I really like it nonetheless. This tastes like my idea of summertime brews! Very hoppy and still balanced.. bitterness melts back fast into the pithy hops with just enough melon and finishes back bitter with a dry pale maltiness... Light body... nice bubble... incredibly drinkable especially for Stone..

Can sourced from Toft Vin, Copenhagen (canned 1 month ago in Berlin) - pours a golden orange colour with thin white head. Fruity and malty aroma and taste, with a pleasing medley of citrus and tropical fruit, fresh juicy grapefruit, lemon, nice pale malty base, lovely stuff, goes down a treat.

Draught at Banksia. Medium high fluffy white lasting head. Hazy yellow body. Powerful hops bitterness combined with lemon grass grapefruit and pine both in aroma and flavor. Low carbonation. Long dry bitter finish. Impressive for a beer with an alcohol level like this.

Draft. A golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of lemons, straw, hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, malt, citrus fruits, and straw, leading to a bitter finish.

Keg at Brewdog Manchester. A hazy golden colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of grape, green apple, mango, some peach, slight lime, a little straw and subtle pine. Taste of grape, apple, pear, peach, some mango, slight lime, maybe lemon, a little straw and subtle pine. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A dryish, citrus hop bitterness in the finish. Packs a hoppy punch for 4.5% lots of appealing apple, grape and peach. Nice a dry with a crisp bitterness in the finish. Well made and overall a good session IPA.

Tapped at epic Stone second location in San Diego California. Clear golden color. Thick soapy head vanishes quickly. Watery epic citrus aroma. Watery refreshing taste of citrus hops, pears, grapes, green apples. Malty bitter hops finish. Excellent session ipa.

A very full taste with plenty of hops. A medium kind of bitterness and a taste that lingers, with notes of hay and wood and fruit. Just excellent.

0.33 can.
A clear, gold color and a large, thin, white head. Aroma of pines, citruses, a lot of tropical fruits, some strawberries, and a ton of hop pellets. Taste is medium sweet, fruity, floral, a tad malty - not as good as expected. A medium body, a thin texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is long and skillfully combines hay with exotic fruits. Overall the beer is just alright, nothing particularly great about it - the biggest advantage is that it does not offend in any respect.

All round one of my favourite session IPA’s. Lovely west coast / pacific Hop blend nose coming through with topical notes and a pallet thats solid and filled with the perfect amount of bitterness for an IPA fix. Pours golden and good head, medium length. well balanced
