COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but we’ll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Had this one a couple of times but finally getting around to reviewing one of the last bottles left in my fridge... Picked this up at the COOP a couple weeks ago.. Pours a crystal clear golden with a short lived white head. Nose is huge hop-forward tropical fruits with plenty of pithy citrus zest for so little malt backbone.. almost too much, but I really like it nonetheless. This tastes like my idea of summertime brews! Very hoppy and still balanced.. bitterness melts back fast into the pithy hops with just enough melon and finishes back bitter with a dry pale maltiness... Light body... nice bubble... incredibly drinkable especially for Stone..

For me this is my favorite beer. Big hoppy pineapple smell. Tastes good going down, refreshing then the back of your mouth it hits you and you need another sip. Nice to have such a great tasting beer that’s session able. I like to have 5-6 without getting wasted out of my mind. Top notch.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Mastikim. Hazy yellow. Weird "green" hoppy aroma with vegetables and some overripe fruits. Dry flavor with "green" hops, slightly fruity, with a vegetal touch and mild bitterness. Quite light-bodied. The vegetal character is strange. This beer’s probably not supposed to be like that.

Wow! Incredibly juicy brew! As soon as you pop this bottle open, you get a huge whiff of incredibly dank, fresh, exploding pine aroma and the flavor matches. Not bitter. Just rich, fresh, slick, and low alcohol so no boozy flavors to ruin the dankness. Great brew.

Pours a clear golden orange with a nice white head that leaves lacing. Nice bit beautiful fruity aroma with grapefruit, citrus hops, pine & resin. Flavor then all of a sudden just falls flat...you can smell something so delicious and the body is like water tasting like the above but just amped down to water. I don;t believe this beer is 65 IBU’s with this thin of a body it would stand out and be overly astringent. Again great aroma to this stone beer but just no body.

Bottle from Antenna America, Yokohama at home. Pours a clearish golden with a small white head. Bitter with hoppy aromas of citrus fruits with notes of pine. Also faint notes of pale ale malts. Medium to light bodied. Medium to high carbonation. Bitter finish.

355ml bottle pours a pale golden orange color with a finger and a half of white head that settles down to reveal some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is pine and citrus. Taste is a pine and citrus hop bitterness with a grainy malt sweetness. Light bodied with decent carbonation leaving a tickle on the palate. A great IPA that can be had all evening long and enjoyed.

Bottle from Bo Brooks’ Lighthouse Liquors, Baltimore. Golden, with a slick, white, head. Grapefruit, grassy hops and a sweet malt aroma. Flavour had plenty more fruit, and rich and sweet malts. Finish was dryish. Good.

Crisp thin dark yellow. Light head. Moderate hop scent with some malt sweetness. Strong hops with balanced malt. Citrus and pineapple. Mouth drying. A bit of Mellon. Would not miss a beat drinkin a few of these and saving some ABV and probably some calories.
