COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just one wooden barrel of this beer was produced. The beer is Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and it was aged for about a year in a used bourbon barrel. From that wooden cask, we were only able to keg up very little. Expect to see the next appearance of this at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens after it opens early this summer.

Bottle pour of Fyodors Classic! Absolutely mind blowing! This 14% barrel aged IRS beauty is euphoric! Loads of bourbon and melted smoked chocolate resonate all over on this fine brew. Cheers!

Black as the darkest dungeon. Ok beige head. Mellow and fine aroma with oak, espresso and vanilla. Full body. Well balance between sweetness and bitterness. Well maybe a bit over to the sweet side. Booozy. Bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, raisins and mild acidic. Powerful lovely ale.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2014 Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours hazy black with a rather small blackish brown head that quickly dissipates while leaving some small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, dark chocolate, coffee, charred wood, moist soil, toasted nuts, hay, alcohol and liquorice fudge. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter and malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood coconut milk, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, moist soil and alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, round, silky, tiny boozy and near full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, coconut milk, bourbon, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee and moist soil. Excellent! Very pleasant nicely executed barrel aged imperial stout. Prominent barrel treatment without it hiding the great base beer.

A tasty, deep, dark brew with a huge body and big aromas of coffee and bourbon. Delicate? I think not, aspidites! Delicate like a freight train (albeit one just around the hill). Huge aromas of espresso, oak, bourbon and chocolate.

Delicate like a freight train (albeit one just around the hill). Huge aromas of espresso, oak, bourbon and chocolate. "Delicate" on the tougne -- but more because it was served from the cellar temperature firkin than because this beer dances like a ballerina. Very well-balanced and a definite hit.

Sweet boozy aroma. Hot finish but not disagreeable. Rich chocolate powder flavor. A little bland at times. Nice oily mouthfeel. Not as roasty as regular stone IRS. Fun, but nothing stands out. Doesn’t merit the work it might take to get one.

Bottling it would be a shame ... it is SO good from the cask!

This is what a Bourbon Barrel Stout should be. Balanced, big, Rich , Delicate, Complex and down right amazing. Nose of Mocha, vanilla, caramel, whisky, toffee and bakers cocoa. Huge yet delicate mouthfeel and wonderful balance. This should be bottled, but I am ok if no one gets to try it because ,I did.
