COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just one wooden barrel of this beer was produced. The beer is Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and it was aged for about a year in a used bourbon barrel. From that wooden cask, we were only able to keg up very little. Expect to see the next appearance of this at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens after it opens early this summer.

Sampled at GABF. Pours an opaque black with some creamy, beige head. Nose of chocolate milk, vanilla, coconut, woody, caramel, awesome. Sweet flavor, malty, vanilla, chocolate, woody. Great barrel character. Super smooth and completely drinkable. Awesome. This has aged perfectly. The epitome of balance.

On tap in Denver for GABF 2012. Multiple samples of the 2008! Pours a totally black color with a small greyish head. A great nose of big bourbon and vanilla. The flavor is a massive Impy with roast, chocolate, bourbon, heat, some vanilla and lingering bitter and sweet bites. Big bourbon for sure, but balanced and drinkable despite the heat. Awesome!

At the Strong Beer Fest at Aces and Ales. Love the aroma that climbs from the black depths of this beer. Bourbon, oak, toast and vanilla are exquisite. Alcohol and fruit are a welcome mix. Roasted malt base supports the alcohol and finishes dry and firm.

Bottle. Dark brown/black pour. Chocolate covered berry aromas. Definitely infected. Sour berry notes invade the rich dark chocolate, deep roasted malts, and bourbon flavors. I can see the potential here and would very much like to revisit this beer...

20 July 3012, bottle. 2010 release (the recalled version). Dark brown. Nose is huge sweet raisins and vanilla. Slight vinegar, dry oak, faint dark chocolate. Nose is amazing, tastes great but might be faintly off.
