gottalottaibu (238), charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 12, 2008 deep black pour with a nice carmel head. roasted malty aroma with some smoke. flavor was of roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate with some dark fruit and smoke. a bit thin on the mouthfeel . finish was warming. very enjoyable but was expecting a bit more. need to get another bottle and go from there.

Rather soft and smooth. Cocoa, alcohol warming. Some spiciness in the finish. Roasted, malty nose with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate and hints of citrussy hops. Roasted, malty taste with strong black coffee, liquorice, cocoa and hints of tar. Citrussy hops in a fairly bitter finish. Balanced sweetness. Brilliantly balanced with alcohol well hidden. Absolutely stunning beer! Not as heavy inthe mouth as expected but full of coffee, chocolate and smoke. Don’t serve this too cold or you may be disappointed. Classic Stone brew.
