Bottle pours gold with bronze highlights and a soapy white head, leaving decent lacing. The nose is primarily grapefruit, pine, and other misc. citrus. Flavor is basically the same with some bitter peach and apricot notes. Overall mouthfeel is moderate/light with a sticky, lasting finish. This beer is pretty much one of my default bar beers, due to availability and consistency. Bravo stone, as usual.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 7/23/09

Aroma: Huge citrus hop nose, grapefruit, orange, apricot
Appearance: Cloudy gold, thin white head, light lacing
Flavor: Nice hop flavor with some dry malts
Palate: Really easy to drink for a beer of this size, I can go through a lot of these, refreshing and enjoyable, still has a decent amount of body and a nice mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I went to move my rating of this beer onto RateBeer a few weeks back, but since I hadn’t had it in sometime, I decided it best to pick up a fresh one. This is really good. Along with the Arrogant Bastard, this was one of my first beer loves, thanks to Stone for showing me the craft beer movement.

Tap. Stone made a great IPA here, its quite run of the mill compared to some of the great stuff that stone makes, but definitely a solid beer here.

Wow, I get the 2000th rating of this beer, and just above my friend Joe. I have had this countless times on draft, cask, and in bottles. This rating based on a growler fill from the brewery. Pours a somewhat light golden amber color with a decent white head. Mild hop aroma (mostly floral, but also a bit of citrus and pine) is a bit weaker than most California IPA’s. Also aroma of brewed black tea and a distinct grainy-ness that it not altogether good. Flavor is decidedly better as the hops kick in more (bitter citrus and pine) with a decent malt backbone. I think the bottled version may be better. Have I just gotten overly used to this? It’s good, but when it comes to local IPA’s here in San Diego, I much prefer the Alesmith.

Growler fill of double dry hopped IPA at Stone Brewing the day of the Sour Fest. Pours a clear golden color with tiny head. Aroma of fresh floral hops. Taste is light and refreshing with very good balance of hop heaven. Palate is medium carbonation with nice aftertaste. Very very good and fresh.

Aroma- Slight floral and lemon-like citrus aroma. Low biscuit aroma. Appearance- Yellow, good clarity, white head with great retention. Taste- Floral/citric taste, same as aroma, and it is strong. High bitterness. Low malt flavor. Palate- easy drinking, light in body, smooth. Overall- Nice, easy drinking IPA with not a lot of malt balance.

Does not have the balls of Ruination but in some ways is better....more drinkable being one. The hop lover will be pleased, the non hop fan will enjoy as well unlike the Ruination

A clear amber pour with a nice white head and good lacing. Grapefruit aroma with malt sweetness. Flavor is citrus hops, pine hops, and a fair amount of malt balance. Not as in your face as Ruination but quite good.
