TearsforBeers (170), Ohio, USA Apr 19, 2009 Pours a very clear yellow amber. Smells great! The aromas are soft sweet malts and very present but not overwhelming American hops. The flavor is somewhat plain, but exceedingly well done. Soft malty sweetness balanced with very nice American hops. Finishes lightly bitter. The mouthfeel is great, I can really tell they adjust/filter their water with precision. Soft, round and clean.
Overall, none of the attributes of this beer are utterly beautiful or arresting, but everything is done just right, and together this for me the standard of a great IPA Lagunitasfan (432), San Diego, California, USA Apr 19, 2009 12 oz bottle. Orange amber. Sticky head. Sweet hoppy nose. Taste hoppy bitter and sweet. Sticks to the back of the throat. Some citrus and honey. Buy a sixer and drink it straight from the bottle. Yummers. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Apr 16, 2009 Pours a hazy orange with thick head that sticks around for a while. Head starts to dissipate leaving a lacing obvious from where it was. Aroma of hops very evident with a bit of pine. Flavor is quite pleasant, but no surprise. Mouthfeel is slightly oily. Very refreshing and inviting brew that I am sure I will be having a bit more of. Maddog (231), Kettering, Ohio, USA Apr 15, 2009 As soon as I opened this beer, the hops exploded! This IPA reminds me Two Hearted in that this is a big piney, fresh beer. Not nearly as overbalanced on the hop side as Ruination of course, but it still is one of my favorite beers. Very easy to drink, very refreshing and very well hopped! scoth (266), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Apr 15, 2009 Pours clear amber, with a thin white head, good lacing. Smells of pine, hay, citrus, oats, and dough. Medium, crisp, and slightly dry body. A lot of bread and barley up front, with deep grass and citrus bitterness. A strong, but nice bitter aftertaste. A lot of depth and subtlety in both the malt and hop profiles. A very nice blend of flavors. Sigmund (2197), Hafrsfjord, Norway Apr 14, 2009 12 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Lovely hoppy aroma, notes of citrus and tropical fruits. The zesty and fruity flavour is distinctly hoppy from start to finish, on a sufficient malty background. Ends in a grapefruity bitterness, but it is not overdone. Long bitter aftertaste. More to my liking than the Arrogant Bastard. Good stuff! mmbt7 (26), Moorhead, Minnesota, USA Apr 13, 2009 Wonderful beer. About the best IPA that I have ever graced my mouth with. Thanks Stone, yet another Fantastic brew! roborb (59), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Apr 13, 2009 Bottle poured into a regular pint glass this beer produced a hazy orange/gold color with a 2 finger head. There was some nice lacing present. The smell consisted of pine, hops, and citrus. I found the taste to be a bit of a let down as the malts far outweighed the hops. It was, however, very easy to drink and was still enjoyable.
