UPDATED: JAN 31, 2008 Wow, this is a true IPA. Most hops I’ve had in an IPA. Not for the fant. VERY hopsy. STRONG. 1 is enough, heartburn sets in. IPA personified.

A wonderful IPA, strong, hoppy, golden, and drinkable. This is ruinations tough little brother. The beer is like a sunrise on a day after a rain, bright, goldenrod, majestic. The hoppy nose is a near-perfect compliment to the lemony-grapefruity aromas that waft from a freshly-poured 22. I am a believer in drinking all good beer from a large-mouthed Belgian beer glass, and to truly appreciate this beer, you need to first inhale its essence. But that only barely prepares you for the oral assault you experience when this hop-bomb touches your tongue. Almost sweet in its balanced maltiness, this IPA is very nearly the avatar of its genre.

This particular IPA was on tap at O’Brien’s. It was a "fresh hop" brew on cask. Big pine and grapefruit nose, with slight barnyard and citrusy notes. Rich gold color and light effervesence.

Hazy golden color. Very nice and fruity aroma: hop, malt, oranges, fudge, pink grapefruit. Quite dry texture, thin body, the malt shows better a bit later, and of course very hoppy (and well fruity). Very good.

The color is opaque, amber, warm. The aroma is of fragrant hop; elderflowers. The taste shows a very perfumed hop and balanced bitterness; at the end the bitterness is dominant. Great.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2005 Wow. This beer has a fantastic aroma and looks wonderful when you pour it. The taste has a lot of hops, but they are quite easy to take in. The pour has an orange color which is very nice to look at. The flavor is bitter but easy to drink. The aftertaste is one of the best. I’m glad I was able to find this.

Bottle Pours a very pale crystal clear golden orange with a medium sized but dense and creamy off white head. Lots of fine sticky lacing. Aroma is a quite intense floral hops. Very shap. Flavor is much softer than I anticipated. Flowery, and malty but very easy and drinkable. Some caramel and light fruits in the flavor as well. Feel is very smooth and rich. Carbonation is quite soft and just a very drinkable IPA.

On tap. Color is orangy golden with white head. Aroma is floral and citrus with a blast of hops. Taste is excellently hoppy and crisp with a nice balance of malt as it warms. SO GOOD.
