Clear dark golden, thin but long-lasting white head. strong and potent hop aroma, grapefruit, mint, lemon, speces, and orange-peels. Big floral and citrusy hop flavour, hints of mint, honey and pine. Sharp hop bitter finish of mint, lime and grapefruit. Medium bodied.. Hop monster!

very refreshing at the end of the night. citrus and piney hops. actually quite well balanced. the 6.9% is not evident at all. probably my favorite ipa at this point.

Stone IPA pours much clearer and lighter than the Stone Pale Ale. Pours a light golden peach with a fine tantalizing white head that just coats the entire glass with sheets of beautiful lacing. Fuck, this is amazing. Aroma is dry, crisp, spicy and fruity with pancake batter, citrus flavor and peaches. Obvious dry hopping (I hope) with some other tropical scents. Honey, lemon, wheat grass, grapefruit with a sweet cedarlike finish. This is fantastic! I had never known what wonderful flavors that little hop flower could bring to beer until I tried this. I really enjoyed this!

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2004 Finally came across a STone dealer near Chicago. Thanks Liquor STop! Very nice IPA, a little clearer than Iíd like, but looks good nonetheless. Citrus and malts in the nose, Nice amber color with thin offwhite head. Now, I like those Piney hops in the taste. An Oh, so, nice IPA. The best Iíve had...

This is a perfectly carbonated pale golden gem of a beer. The vanilla colored head is gorgeous, fluffy, and perfectly foamy. As the head slowly dissipates it leaves and abundance of thick, intricate lacing. This beer looks good! Aroma is strong and hoppy. This isnít a sensitive beer; itís a full frontal assault on the senses. Aroma is loaded with big bursts of hops, grapefruit, pine, and sharp notes of alcohol. Flavor starts off sweet with malt, cherry, and berry flavors. Soon pine nut, tobacco, grapefruit, and sharp hops flavors take over. The beer finishes with a mouth filling burst of bitter hops followed by an alcohol KO. Overall, this is one of the finest beers that Iíve ever had the pleasure of tasting. I canít get it locally but if I could then Iíd keep it on hand at all times.

One of my favorite standard IPAís. Pretty strong hop aroma and flavor but not as overpowering as some stronger beers. Surprisingly well-balanced and easy to drink. This is a great session beer in my opinion.

Pours a clear amber colour with a medium rapidly diminishing head. Aroma of fresh hop flowers. Flavour of hops but nowhere as bitter as expected from the huge hop aroma. Good mouthfeel with a dry finish.

I love stone almost as much as I love a well crafted IPA, and this is a winning combination, deep citrus intensity, layered over a delcious hop presence, this precise layering is what makes me determine this such a well balanced ale, crispy mouthfeel that maintains buoyancy while still holding a string presence, I like seeing a little sediment in my IPAs which is really the only thing this one is lacking in appearance, Iíve learned that I definatly need to try more Stone ales

Good beer, although I am not a big hophead. The hop and malt aroma was great. The beer is crisp with lots of bitterness which lasts way after finishing the beer.
