By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Wow! A love of hops is obviously the origin of this delightful brew. Sweet and full with a hint of pine or maybe alcohol. Clear, deceiving color does not alert you to the secrets locked inside the glass. There is a space on the cooler shelf from now on for my new favorite.

Let me start by saying my expectations are sky-high, and that I love great IPAs, I will continue my review following the dots ... mmm mmm Good! Yeah this is definitely an excellent IPA, the initial flavoring is strong and distinct. The after-taste is unusually subtle yet powerful. It really does an excellent job of masking the underlying power and presents itself as a hoppy giant. Completely enjoyable and a superb brew.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2004 Sweet hops of toasted lemons. Spicey notes maybe cinnamon. Copper beauty nice amber waves of grain. Thought this would be the 1. Why should l try to fool myself and settle for less. Lovely flavor large flowery bouquet that is hendered by temp. Yet in all still satisfyingly crisp abundent to thirst.

Light copper color, fluffy white head that lasts, nice lacing. Aromatics are very malty... almost worty with a floral citrus finish. Flavor is extremely well balanced between the hops and the malt. The bittering hops are up front and assertive but moves into a very hoppy flavor with a huge malt backbone, finishes slightly sweet. The mouthfeel is pleasant, medium and slightly dry. Very drinkable, the alcohol is a bit on the high end for a session beer... but thats okay, I enjoy it thoroughly.

Stone IPA pours much clearer and lighter than the Stone Pale Ale. Pours a light golden peach with a fine tantalizing white head that just coats the entire glass with sheets of beautiful lacing. Fuck, this is amazing. Aroma is dry, crisp, spicy and fruity with pancake batter, citrus flavor and peaches. Obvious dry hopping (I hope) with some other tropical scents. Honey, lemon, wheat grass, grapefruit with a sweet cedarlike finish. This is fantastic! I had never known what wonderful flavors that little hop flower could bring to beer until I tried this. I really enjoyed this!

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2004 Finally came across a STone dealer near Chicago. Thanks Liquor STop! Very nice IPA, a little clearer than Id like, but looks good nonetheless. Citrus and malts in the nose, Nice amber color with thin offwhite head. Now, I like those Piney hops in the taste. An Oh, so, nice IPA. The best Ive had...
