4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 HH (165) - Everett, Washington, USA - JUN 17, 2002
Light color as far as IPAs go. Initial hop blast is big. Once the taste buds adjust to the hops this is a great brew. Lots of hops with enough malt to make it work. Had at the Seattle Brewfest. I will look for this next year for sure.

Strong hoppy aroma, very bitter like an IPA should be. Lasting aftertaste that isn’t as acidic as you would expect. Very well made. IPA fans shouldn’t miss this one.

One of my all time favorite beers. Tastes wonderful almost like licorice!

Nice hop aroma with a hint of malt. Body is balanced perfectly. A great IPA.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ernest (5605) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 9, 2002
UPDATED: SEP 19, 2003 Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is light amber. Aroma is heavily hoppy (pine, resin), lightly malty (light bread), with a note of turpentine/varnish. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is heavily bitter, moderately acidic, lightly sweet. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately astringent, lightly alcoholic. Second review. Very medicinal aroma, presumably a combination of the strong resinous hops and the alcohol, are still a turn-off for my nose. Smells like something you'd clean floors with, not drink ("a floor wax that's also a dessert topping!"). Flavor balance and mouthfeel are decent for the style, but I can't see myself buying this a third time.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 erway (1004) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - JUN 8, 2002
A very fine IPA with loads of hops and a very light refreshing texture, maybe too light. The only thing this beer lacks is the malt depth, found in hopdevil, wich balances the great hop bitterness.

HOPPY - HOPPY - HOPPY. There is a time and place for hoppiness in a beer and certainly an IPA is one of them (no thanks in Stouts and Porters!!!). I’m not a huge hop head, but this beer I did enjoy. Deep golden color. Medium head. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Had it on tap. Nice bitter and hoppy finish, sensing pine needles and such. Taste was not dry, but a pleasant bitter just as an IPA should be.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 AceOfHearts (1375) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 2, 2002
Quite complex, dry aroma. Ridiculously bitter and hoppy, a bit too much for me but still a nice beer. Try adding a splash of the smoked porter to this to make a ’smoked Indian’.

One awesome IPA, this is what beer drinking is all about. Copper colored with a hoppy, hoppy nose and flavor, just damn good!

Hopheads’ heaven. Attractive aroma and appearance, rewarding taste and attitude adjustment.
