Purchased inexplicably at a corner store in New York's Chinatown, where one could also obtain a durian or some lap cheung. Golden/amber, dense offwhite head, much lace. Aroma is what a field of hops must smell like. Tastes of pine and citrus, some grass and a powerful bitterness. Not much in the way of malt but sufficient to carry the hop-load. Medium body. I should go back and tell the woman behind the counter at the store that this is "hen hao pijiu!" (very good beer!)

This brew was sent to me by Andrew196 a few months ago and is finally getting to see the light of day, Thanks for the brew Mike!
Poured into my Samuel Smiths Nonic pint glass, this Stone IPA poured a massive cream-colored head that very slowly dissipates but leaves behind a colossal mass of smaller rocky head and lacing; in the lower portion of the glass sits a sparkling copper colored brew.
The aroma and flavor are burly with citrus, mainly grapefruit, some notes of caramel, spruce, and pine shine through. The alcohol makes itself recognized, but mainly in the finish I can feel the warmth in the back of my throat.
Great bitterness, not overpowering at all. This IPA has a slightly oily, medium, crisp palate, very lovely!
Overall this is a BIG Citrus, Grapefruit IPA, one that will not disappoint!

Aroma of sweet pine. Taste of pine, malt and slight citrus. Very smooth and drinkable. Ever present hops with out a strong bite which adds greatly to the drinkablity. Great with food. Nothing exotic but a very good representation of what I like the style to be.

(draught) Pale gold. Rather dense, slim head, yellowish. Nose like a freshly opened bale of hops. Unrefined, lager-like malt under harsh metallic hops-taste. Medium bodied. Aftertaste is again - just more hops. This is not bad, but, by Jove, beer has to be more than just hops on steroids.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2003 Best IPA I've had thus far. Nice orange appearance with a flurry of flavors.

This beer is a lot like the ruination but without the hop kick in the junk you get from ruination. It's a very good IPA.

Amber color with white large head. Aroma is of hops and very strong.Hoppy bitter taste that has a hint of pine to it. Not as smooth as the Ruination IPA but still a solid Hopped up IPA.

Light orange colored and crystal clear with an inviting fluffy white head. Huge hoppy aroma and flavor. Perfectly bitter beer. Excellent.

A hop monster. Possibly one of the best hop aromas I've experienced. They leap out of the glass to destroy my nostrils. Destroy, damn it! The taste....wow, american hops like crazy. Rich pine, woody, floral. Damn! Hops! Who likes hops here? Do you? Then drink this IPA, damn it!

Deep amber color. Small off-white head mostly diminishing. Aroma is strong hoppy aroma (pine). I must admit on the front end that I love an IPA. In this case this is one of the better varieties of same. Strong hoppy, bitter taste but with substantial malt backbone. Full bodied. A good effort Stone
